Healthy diet safeguards against COVID-19

Image
The COVID-19 Pandemic intensifies the Philippine’s battle against Double Burden of Malnutrition. Double Burden of Malnutrition is defined by World Health Organization (WHO) as “the coexistence of undernutrition along with overweight and obesity, or diet-related non communicable diseases, within individuals, households and populations, and across the life course.” The limited distribution and access to food supplies aggravate the plight of poor and low income Filipino households to sustain each person’s required nutrients through healthy meals. On the other hand, home confinement due to the mandated community quarantine may cause more people to not only restrict their physical activities but also to overeat and/or consume more food with empty calories as part of coping with stress and/or boredom. Given the importance of maintaining healthy diets to sustain our health and immunity against viruses and bacteria, we should turn to the practice of Pinggang Pinoy® as a viable safeg...

What Kathryn Bernardo, Liza Soberano and I have in Common?

Image
When I was younger, the kitchen used to be a scary place for me and cooking was an intimidating task reserved for mothers and household helps. BUT technology played a role in guiding people around the kitchen. In this day and age, new cooks search online for cooking videos or check out "food hacks" to be able to produce any dish we want that we can, in turn, show off on social media. Now that I am a mom of 3, I find cooking fun and heartening with the help of my kitchen bestfriend. Like me, young celebrities Kathryn Bernardo and Liza Soberano also enjoy cooking for their loved ones. They are the newest tandem to endorse AJI-NO-MOTO® Umami Seasoning. Apart from what can be found in the Internet, Kathryn and Liza became more confident cooks because they can rely on a brand of seasoning to make delicious home-cooked dishes by bringing out the natural goodness of food.  The new AJI-NO-MOTO® TV Commercial features three (3) dishes to show the versatility of the p...
