Keeping it Together with Converge Vision

Dux Carvajal, a photographer, family man and Converge FiberX subscriber from Quezon City.

For photographers, the world is their creative backyard because they go wherever their subject takes them. They leave home and set foot towards the known (and the unknown) in their pursuit of capturing the big, defining moments. For family man Dux Carvajal, this jet setting lifestyle is a balancing act of seeing the world but keeping things grounded at home. Thankfully, a strong, stable internet connection by Converge keeps him connected to his family wherever he is and affords his family the digital means to live, work, and play while he’s away.

“Every other week there’s an event for my major client, which is often in Bangkok, then one week back here in the Philippines, then Qatar, back to Bangkok, then maybe Singapore. I’ve been a photographer for close to 15 years now. The main thing I shoot is sports, mostly mixed martial arts and that gives me the opportunity to travel around different countries every other week. I’m very blessed to be able to do this for a living,” says Dux, giving a glimpse of the lifestyle he’s taken on as a sports photographer.

“Being a sports photographer is an incredible job because you get to capture history. You get to capture the moments and the emotions. You are making history through your images,” he adds.

As if that’s not enough, he manages his own events company which offers photography as a logical accompaniment to the services of the company. This suite of services is an expansion of his skills in public relations, where he and his wife both started out.

“I started my career doing PR for a sports channel where I was able to travel with a sports company and experienced their events. It got me thinking maybe I could do that locally. I partnered with some of my friends and started an events company. Our first clients, who are actually still our clients today, are mostly international ones so business has been good,” he explained.

In addition to a stable business and a job bringing him to different corners of the world, Dux has been able to build a happy little nest too with his wife and three kids in Quezon City.

Dux is subscribed to the FiberX 2500 of Converge, giving him equal upload and download speeds, so he can experience uninterrupted internet access while streaming movies, downloading large files, and even playing online games.

When he’s not out shooting for mounting an event, he’s at home enjoying quality time watching streaming channels or local content via Vision, the all-in-one entertainment box offered by Converge in partnership with affiliate cable company, Pacific KabelNet. Vision is a value-added service for Converge subscribers, providing access to a broader selection of local and international television channels for a monthly fee.

“For us, the main benefit of Vision is, it converted our non-smart TV to a smart tv. It’s a plug and play device and once it’s been set up, all the channels are there. And the TV is suddenly a smart tv, you get your Disney Plus, Spotify, YouTube and browsing through the TV channels content you get a lot of content and there’s BlastTV too.”

The ‘Vision Xperience Box’ by Converge offers 65 local and international TV channels for an additional P99 per month on top of the monthly plan, or P 299 a month for 82 channels. This box includes Kapamilya channels as well as international news and entertainment channels like HBO, Cinemax, USA Today, and many more.

Aside from these channels, subscribers have quick, one-click access to Google apps, online games, and OTT apps like HBO Go, Amazon Prime, YouTube, and Spotify.

“There’s content for everyone: my daughters are always on Disney+ for the Disney princesses, my son watches science shows, my wife is a big K-drama fan, and for me, it’s mostly the sports channels,” he shares.

With the successive speed boosts the plans have undergone since 2016, subscribers can all the more take advantage of their speeds, using their connection for gaming and work at the same time. This is yet another benefit Dux enjoys with his Converge connection, as he sends over hefty image files to his clients abroad.

“Before, that was my worry. It’s embarrassing for the clients, you’re just downloading a 10Mb file, and yet, it’s taking too long. My clients are abroad, so they’re used to lightning-fast speeds. They can’t understand what’s taking me so long. But because of the speeds that we get through Converge, I’m very confident to now say, ‘Hey, I can transfer these files right away.’ The work gets done quickly, even the workflow as well,” he ended.

Converge offers ‘free upgrade to Vision’ promo for FiberX subscribers

Both new and existing Converge FiberX customers in Metro Manila can choose to add a pay television service to their subscription at no cash-out as Converge offers a promo for those who will avail of Vision through August 31.

As a value-added service, Vision provides access to a broader selection of local and international television channels for a monthly fee of P99 or P299, depending on a subscriber’s chosen plan, on top of their monthly broadband subscription fee.

With the no cash-out promo taking effect, FiberX customers will no longer have to pay for the Xperience box, which is priced at P2,800.

“At Converge, we always keep ahead in giving our subscribers the latest innovation so that they have the best digital experience. Vision uses the newest technology for digital platforms. For now, customers can access TV channels and OTT (over-the-top) services but in the future, it can allow them to receive content on demand, such as concert live-streaming,” said Converge CEO and Co-Founder Dennis Anthony Uy during the recent speed boost launch of Converge held at its headquarters in Pasig.

In partnership with its affiliate cable company Pacific Kabelnet (PKN), Converge introduced Vision in 2021 as an all-in-one home entertainment service. It supports 4K streaming and offers 61 to 88 multi-genre and multi-language channels, some of which include USA Today News, USA Today Sports, Cinema One, HBO, Cartoon Network, and History Channel.

Vision uses online linear streaming which enables users to access content through their Converge fiber broadband connection, giving greater flexibility, interactivity, and the ability to deliver high-definition (HD) content compared to traditional broadcasting methods.

Vision can accommodate Filipinos' demand for different online video content as it gives them access to YouTube, where music videos and vlogs can be streamed at any time.

According to the recent DataReportal's Digital 2024 study, the Philippines continues to be the top consumer of online video content with 97.2 percent of Filipino online users watching any kind of video online at least once a week.

Other applications that can be downloaded through Vision include Spotify, Viu, Disney+, Curiosity, Amazon Prime, and HBO Go.

“If you are someone who loves your pay TV channels, our Vision box is here, ensuring that your entertainment needs are not only met but exceeded. The box not only offers access to cable TV channels, but also allows customers to download their favorite OTT apps, play games, and be in command with its integrated Google assistant,” said Converge Chief Commercial Officer Benjamin Azada.

Converge dominated the Ookla® Speedtest Awards™ in the second half of 2023 and has been declared as the *Fastest Internet Service Provider in the Philippines. Based on Ookla’s Speedtest Intelligence® data for the six months, Converge also hauled major awards in multiple categories bagging Best Internet Gaming Experience, Best Internet Video Experience, and Top-Rated Internet in the Philippines. Ookla® is the global leader in mobile and broadband network intelligence, testing applications, and related technologies.

Thanking its subscribers for these recognitions, Converge has given free internet speed upgrades for free to its existing FiberX customers. FiberX 1500, 2000, and 2500 are now 100 Mbps faster compared to its original speed, improving subscribers’ connection to up to 300 Mbps, 500 Mbps, and 700 Mbps, respectively. FiberX 3500 subscribers, meanwhile, can now experience a 200-Mbps difference to their plan, increasing their 800-Mbps internet connection to 1 Gigabit per second (Gbps). The nationwide and automatic speed increase special offer is effective until March 31, 2024.
