BDO declares Cash & Stock Dividends

At its meeting held on December 3, 2022 , the Board of Directors of BDO Unibank, Inc. (BDO) approved the declaration of regular cash dividends on common shares in the amount of P0.30 per share for the 4th quarter of 2022 , payable on December 29, 2022 to all stockholders on record as of December 20, 2022 .  The Bank likewise received approval from the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) on Nov. 29, 2022 for its stock dividends equivalent to 20% of current outstanding. To recall, BDO’s Board of Directors approved on March 26, 2022 : the declaration of 20% stock dividends; an increase in its authorized capital stock (common shares) from 5.5 billion to 8.5 billion shares, and; the amendment to the Bank’s Articles of Incorporation to reflect the increase. BDO Unibank won the Bank of the Year in the Philippines at the recently held Bank of the Year Awards 2021 of The Banker. The London-based financial publication has commended the digital solutions deployed by BDO Unibank in 2021 , stating that the modernization prompted better customer service, increased resiliency, and enhanced cybersecurity. The deployment of digital solutions has allowed bank clients to open accounts online, make paperless in-branch transactions, and do card-less ATM banking using biometrics or QR Codes. Moreover, they can now link together their BDO accounts in one mobile wallet called BDO Pay and make online peer-to-peer and consumer transactions easier and faster. BDO Network Bank ATMs now accept VISA and KFTC Int’l cards

BDO Network Bank, the rural banking arm of BDO Unibank, has announced that its network of Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) now accepts VISA and KFTC (Korea Financial Intermediaries and Clearing Institute) International cards, allowing the bank to serve the cash requirements of more ATM cardholders with internationally-issued cards. VISA and KFTC cardholders can already withdraw and inquire their account balance from any BDO Network Bank ATM nationwide. The rural bank has over 250 strategically located ATMs in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. BDO Network Bank President J. Antonio S. Itchon said this development can benefit foreigners who frequent major tourist spots where BDO Network Bank is also present. The enhancement of KFTC International Card acceptance, he added, will also benefit Korean nationals visiting and residing in the country. BDO warns against SIM-card-related scams

BDO Unibank, Inc. cautions against scammers who use SIM cards to deceive and steal their victims’ money. One modus is called SIM Swapping, where scammers disguise as telco agents offering upgraded network connection in exchange for SIM cards.  More prevalent is the SIM Upgrade modus. Scammers purchase 4G SIM cards, register their victims’ mobile number, and fool their victims into giving the One-Time PIN (OTP) needed to own the mobile number. In both modus operandi, scammers take over their victims’ mobile numbers to control their victims’ online bank accounts. BDO urges clients to call BDO Customer Care to deactivate their accounts if they get SMS notifications or emails about suspicious online transactions.
