Luscious and Perfect U.S. Potato Fudge Brownie (Topped with Chocolate-Dipped U.S. Crisscut Potatoes)

Image
I love to cook, but I rarely bake. When MITD gifted me with a 24L air fryer, I decided to put it to use and tried my best to learn some baking recipes. It was a rewarding experience seeing my family happy with the food I prepared for them! Then I came upon Chef Miko Aspiras' U.S. Potato Fudge Brownie recipe. One of its ingredients piqued my curiosity - the potato granules. That made me decide to try it out, and besides, it looks divine and my family loves chocolates and potatoes. I always thought that potatoes are all bought fresh from the market or frozen like fries. Little did I know we can buy them dehydrated. So what are U.S. dehydrated potatoes? U.S dehydrated potatoes come in slices, dices, shreds, flakes, granules, and flour. They are made of real potatoes, with just the water removed. They have been processed using state-of-the-art equipment that helps keep their nutrients intact. They're simple and quick to prepare. They have a longer shelf life and are easy to ...

Hearty Meals for a Healthy, Happy Family

Image
Trust the Filipino to put the most positive of spins on the most difficult of times. And that is exactly what many Pinoy families are doing in this pandemic, which is leaving people little choice but to hole up at home rather than risk their health outside. While this situation is less than ideal, many Filipino families are nonetheless using the extra time they are spending at home to bond with one another—usually over food, whether for a kingly breakfast, a sumptuous lunch, a mouthwatering merienda, or a delectable dinner.  But as COVID-19 showed yet again, there is no substitute for good health, and that is something you and your family can best ensure by sharing food that is both hearty and healthy. To be clear, this doesn’t mean saying goodbye entirely to all-time Pinoy favorites, like adobo or liempo or sinigang. These delicacies will forever be part of the Filipino dining table, and you can continue to feast on them from time to time. That said, do explore other food choice...

Classic Beef Caldereta with U.S. Russets

Image
Leveling up our all-time family fave with U.S. potato goodness Classic Beef Caldereta with U.S. Russets The humble potato is a staple food in many parts of the world and an integral part of much of the world's food supply. This includes our household. Oh how we love potatoes! Almost all of our meals at home have potatoes in them. Our family is a sucker for fries, too! It’s an awesome extender for our “ulam” and goes well with just about anything. I love serving them at home because potatoes are highly nutritious, too. A serving of about 5.3 oz has 620mg of Potassium. That’s a higher Potassium content than a medium-sized banana. It’s perfect for our Dada’s diet. Potatoes are also rich in Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, Protein, Fiber, and Iron. They are also free of sodium, cholesterol, gluten and fat. These are all beneficial for a healthier heart. I must admit, I used to think potatoes only come in one form, which is fresh, the usual ones we find in stores. Unti...
