Converge and Caritas Manila's Unang Yakap: Building Healthier Communities in 2024

Converge and Caritas Manila worked together to build an Unang Yakap community in Baseco, Tondo, Manila. Using the funds generated from the company’s silent auction, Converge has taken 14 pregnant and breastfeeding moms under its care to help provide their nutritional and medical needs in the next 1000 days. Beyond empowering the country through fiber broadband services, Converge ICT Solutions Inc. has also been bringing new life into communities in line with its commitments in the name of sustainability. With one of its pledges anchored on creating positive community impact, Converge collaborates with organizations in different sectors, leveraging its capabilities, to create more opportunities for Filipinos to thrive. The welfare and development arm of the country’s Catholic Church, Caritas Manila, bears witness to the company’s efforts in this regard. Caritas Manila, in partnership with Converge, launched its Unang Yakap community at Baseco Compound in Tondo, Manila.  IN PHOTO: Converge employees, composed of women leaders and mentees from the company’s leadership program MentorSHE, together with the volunteers of Caritas Manila. Leading fiber broadband and technology provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc. worked in partnership with Caritas Manila as it launched its Unang Yakap community at Baseco Compound in Tondo, Manila last August 28.  The project intends to provide sustainable healthcare and nutritional assistance to underprivileged pregnant and lactating moms, including their children, in one of Manila’s most densely populated and underserved areas. BDO Foundation Extends Helping Hand to Thousands Affected by Typhoon Carina

The foundation, in collaboration with partners like Caritas Manila, Tanging Yaman Foundation, and local government units, distributed 12,350 relief packs across Luzon, reaching communities affected by flooding in Bulacan (Malolos, Calumpit, Bocaue, Hagonoy, Meycauayan, and Obando), Pampanga (Macabebe and Masantol), Ilocos Sur (Vigan), Rizal, and Metro Manila. More than 10 boxes of clothes, shoes, books, toys, and even household items were collected from Converge employees over a month when Segunda Mana boxes were deployed to three Converge offices.  Converge partners with Caritas Manila for Segunda Mana donations in-kind program The first rule of mountain climbing, as hikers and climbers will tell you, is to travel light. You can climb the steep slope and dodge obstacles faster when you have less luggage to slow you down. Similar to this, we should have a "go light" mentality and let go of the things that stand in our way as we get ready to climb the mountain that is 2024 and overcome the rocks and slopes along the way. SM Stationery donates school supplies to ChildHope Philippines and Caritas Manila

Kids receive their brand new school kits from SM Stationery as they wait for school opening and alternative programs.  SM Stationery recently donated school supplies to ChildHope Philippines and Caritas Manila, to support the education initiatives of these non-government organizations for less fortunate children. While schools are not yet open, ChildHope and Caritas have come up with innovative programs to educate the young. Each of the kits distributed by SM Stationery, the school and office supplies department of The SM Store, includes envelopes, notebooks, crayons, rulers, writing pads, ballpoint pens and pencils. ChildHope Philippines has already helped in the distribution of the school supplies to poor communities in Marikina, and has worked with community and youth leaders to train mothers so that they can teach their kids basic writing, reading and life skills during the quarantine. Caritas Manila will hold its second Celebrity Bazaar on October 18, Thursday from 1-10pm on the 2nd level of the Mega Atrium of SM Megamall.  Entrance fee is P500 per person.  The bazaar will feature pre-loved luxury items up for sale from generous celebrity donors Heart Evangelista, Alden Richards, Ruffa Gutierrez, Dr. Vicki Bello, Scarlet Snow Belo, Cristalle Bello, Bang Pineda, Teacher Georcelle, Toni Gonzaga, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Vice Ganda, Iza Calzado, Divine Lee, Jinkee Pacquiao, Manny Pacquiao and premier designers Michael Cinco and Cary Santiago. Heart Evangelista is this year’s Event Ambassador. Proceeds from this year’s bazaar will benefit the Youth Servant Leadership and Education Program (YSLEP) of Caritas Manila.
