5 essential kitchen tips for homeschooling moms

“Going back to school” is not the same this year as many schools shift to distance learning due to the pandemic. In addition to other responsibilities, most parents now need to take on their kids’ schooling and ensure that they really understand their online lessons.

If you’re already working from home, you may be thinking that you just don’t have enough time for your job, household chores, and helping your kids with school. Before you get overwhelmed, Solane, the leading supplier of LPG in the country, is here to offer some kitchen tips to make your new arrangement at home easier.

Set a schedule. Preparing a meal, on top of everything else that needs to get done, can be time consuming. Make sure you have a daily schedule that includes the time you will allot for cooking, uninterrupted work, your kids' school hours, as well as your break time and meal times. Once you have your schedule, do your best to stick to it so you can manage your time better.

Plan meals in advance. Save yourself from unnecessary stress by planning the meals you will cook for the family ahead of time. By doing this, you get to save some time by getting all the ingredients you need at the grocery in one trip during quarantine. Just make sure to plan a variety of dishes that are easy to prepare, flavorful, and nutritious.

Get the kids involved. If your kids aren’t too busy, you can ask them to help with some simple tasks in the kitchen like rinsing the vegetables or mixing ingredients. This can also be an opportunity to teach them about kitchen safety when it comes to things like peeling and chopping vegetables to avoid accidents. A few minutes before your meal, ask your kids to help by setting up the table. After eating, they can also help clear the table and put the dirty dishes in the sink. Not only will this help you, but this will also teach your kids responsibility and discipline.

Do the chores immediately. Try to get the chores done right away. Small stressors, like unfinished kitchen chores, only add up and affect your overall well-being. If tasks are left undone, you may feel more stressed, especially while working or tutoring your kids.  Start small. After eating, you can wash your kitchen tools and tableware, wipe the counters, and throw out the trash immediately. If you don’t feel up to it, don’t think of it as, “I need to clean the kitchen.” Instead, look at it this way: Do you want a clean kitchen? Then, get cleaning.

Invest in the right kitchen equipment. Invest in kitchen tools that can help you save time and cook faster, such as convection ovens, food processors, and instant pots. Also consider kitchen appliances that don’t need too much attention while cooking, like slow cookers. Just put your ingredients in them and they will take care of the cooking process. This will give you more time to focus on your work and kids’ lessons. In addition, opt for an LPG brand that is made for fast and safe cooking, like Solane. With the help of Solane, you can easily prepare your meals without the hassle or any worries.

Solane provides cooking stations for Taal evacuees

Hundreds of evacuees affected by the eruption of the Taal Volcano became beneficiaries of the relief operations organized recently by top LPG solutions provider Solane. Food, cooking equipment, and Solane LPG were generously provided to evacuees who were able to use the Solane LPG cooking stations set up by volunteers from the company.

“Solane is happy to be giving back to the community in any way we can. Through this tragic incident, we saw the opportunity to step up by setting up cooking stations so we can provide hot and freshly cooked meals to as many evacuees as we can,” said Isla LPG CEO Ruben Domingo.

Solane cooking station in Batangas Sports Complex

Solane conducted a series of relief operations in various evacuation sites. At the Batangas Sports Complex, a team of Solane volunteers put up a cooking station to offer noodles and coffee to at least 3000 estimated evacuees. At the Batangas Provincial Capitol where more than 700 evacuees stayed, the Batangas Divers Association partnered with Solane to provide LPGs for their cooking station. Meanwhile, in Barangay San Jose, Batangas, Solane donated five sets of stove and LPGs to at least 900 evacuees.

The Taal relief operation is one of the several outreach initiatives of Solane in Batangas. Solane also regularly holds community drives such as barangay health initiatives, sports tournaments to promote a healthier lifestyle and good camaraderie, and Balik Eskwela to provide educational materials and school equipment to public schools.

Sarah G to independent ladies: Learn how to cook for yourself

The Popstar Royalty shares why cooking gives her a sense of freedom

What is an independent Filipina? Is she someone who likes to do things on her own, learn new experiences as she moves through life, or someone who knows how to take care of herself? For many women, being independent means more than living on their own. It also means experiencing life in her own terms and being able to follow one’s passion without restriction.

Take it from Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo who is starting to claim and enjoy her own independence—free to chase her passion and discover new ones. “Para po sa’kin, being an independent person means kaya mong gawin ‘yung mga bagay na gusto mong gawin. As an independent woman, gustung-gusto ko pong mag-explore ng mga bagay na di ko pa nagagawa, and also learn more about myself in the process.”

One passion she decided to pursue is cooking. “Ang sarap po kasi ng pakiramdam na kaya mong ipagluto yung sarili mo. Whenever I cook, I get that sense of freedom in my own kitchen. I’m free to experiment, try new dishes, or recreate my Mom’s recipes,” she adds. “Kaya to all independent women out there, I advise that you learn how to cook. It’s very empowering to rely on yourself, and a good start will be in the kitchen.”

As testament to her new-found independence in pursuing her passion, Sarah even shared some easy-to-cook recipes. Her favorites are found in the cookbook that comes with every purchase of the all-new Phoenix Super LPG at select super hubs.

Whether you’re living alone or just simply someone who loves to do things on their own, these Sarah G-approved dishes will make you rediscover the joys of cooking (and eating!).

How a nutritionist can help your family enjoy better health

With the guidance of a Nutitionist,
You can attain a sustainable lifestyle and achieve
Optimum health.

When a family member gets sick or experiences recurring discomfort such as constipation, acne breakouts or cramps, we often self-medicate or go straight to a doctor – and very seldom to a nutritionist.

However, consulting a nutritionist is actually a good idea because many of the ailments that we experience may be caused by improper nutrition, micronutrient deficiency, or high sugar levels that can be addressed simply by modifying our diet.

To help your family achieve better health, Solane, the country’s leading LPG solutions provider, shares how visiting a nutritionist can help you and your loved ones achieve optimal health.

A healthy diet is the key to enjoy better well-being. Mostly, sicknesses and infections are caused by lack of nutrients because the body requires different vitamins and minerals to function properly. These nutrients aren’t naturally produced by the body, thus you can only get them from the food you eat. To help you achieve optimal health, nutritionists conduct a variety of tests to see what nutrients your body needs to boost your well-being and fight infections and diseases.

Are you struggling to shed those extra pounds for a long time but seem like nothing has changed?

With the help of a nutritionist, you can lose weight safely and effectively. He can evaluate your lifestyle as well as eating habits to give you a personalized health plan that suits your body and lifestyle.

Another reason for visiting a nutritionist is to help you prevent certain health problems or conditions, especially if you are predisposed to having some illnesses because your family has a history of serious health problems, like cancer.

Nutritionists can recommend changes in your diet and lifestyle to prevent this from happening.

Nutritionists can also identify what food causes allergies and help manage it. He can offer advice on food that is safe to eat, ensuring that your body will still get adequate nutrients even if you stop eating those that trigger the allergy. He can also provide a diet plan which incorporates the safe food and offers tips on how to avoid an allergic reaction.

On top of that, a nutritionist acts as your coach who can teach you how to make healthy decisions and cook delicious, healthy meals. Indeed, with the guidance of
a nutritionist, you can acquire a sustainable healthy lifestyle and achieve optimum health.
