Canadian Pickleball National Champion Mackonner Dy is headlining an exciting pickleball roadshow across select SM Supermalls to mark the first anniversary of SM Active Hub.
Making his way to the Philippines, Dy kicked off his tour at SM City Marikina, where he was met with overwhelming enthusiasm, further proving the sport’s rapidly growing popularity in the country.
At just 16 years old, Dy is already a standout athlete from The Nest Pickleball Academy in Tsawwassen, BC. He is renowned for his exceptional skills, including lightning-fast reflexes at the kitchen line, advanced game strategy, creative shot-making, and a calm composure that belies his age. His impressive resume includes being the National Canadian Champion in the Singles Open Division, a draft pick for the Vancouver Owls in the Canadian National Pickleball League, a Round of 16 finish at the PPA Texas Open, and most recently, a Gold Medal win at the PPA Hanoi.

During his stop at SM City Marikina, Dy received a warm welcome from SM Supermalls executives, led by AVP for Marketing Jay Aranas, Area Marketing OIC Ma-ann Hipol, Regional Marketing Head Khristine Lenon, and Mall Manager Francis Brian Cruz. Also present were representatives from Paloo PH and the local pickleball community, highlighting the collaborative efforts driving the sport forward in the Philippines.

Sharing the Passion for the Game
Dy emphasized pickleball’s unique appeal, noting that it is highly accessible, easy to learn, and incredibly fun to play. He expressed excitement over the increasing number of dedicated courts, particularly within SM malls, believing these spaces will inspire more people—especially the youth—to stay active, reach their full potential, and support their mental and social well-being.
