Sunrise Trail Hike at Masungi Georeserve: An Empowering and Meaningful Birthday Celebration

Image
Since I was a child, as soon as June approaches, I feel thrilled because it's my birth month. I don't eagerly anticipate gifts, but rather the greetings from family and friends. It brings me joy. I am easily pleased. It doesn't take much to make me happy. Whenever I am asked what I want for my birthday, my usual response is "nothing" or "I don't know; I can't think of anything I want or need." I am not materialistic. I am happy. I am healthy. I am blessed with family and true friends. Feeling ko nasa akin na ang lahat and I prefer inner peace. Fancy that! Haha. I find more joy in giving, whether to family, friends, or even strangers. But this time, I said, "Lord, can I give myself a gift this time?" Since a retreat in Batulao is not possible yet, I scheduled a day for myself for a pampering session at the mall. SM Malls Call on Communities to Share the Joy of Reading via The Great Book Share

A community book drive to put stories in the hands of more Filipino readers

SM City Grand Central, SM Center Sangandaan, and SM City Valenzuela invite everyone to take part in The Great Book Share — a donation drive that gives mallgoers, tenants, business partners, and families a meaningful way to pass on the gift of reading to those who need it most.

Running now until October 25, the initiative welcomes the public to drop off gently used books in good condition at designated collection points across all three participating malls.

What you can donate

Accepted items include:

- Fiction and non-fiction titles

- Children’s books and young adult literature

- Academic textbooks and reference materials

- Magazines and comic books

Please ensure all donations are complete, clean, dry, and free from major damage, so they can be enjoyed fully by their next readers.

More than just a book drive

Beyond building libraries, The Great Book Share aims to promote literacy and nurture a culture of learning and generosity. It also brings SM Cares’ vision to life: turning SM malls into inclusive spaces for connection, education, and opportunity for young learners and future leaders.

Every book you share opens new worlds for someone else — helping make reading accessible to more Filipino families across the community.

Gather your pre-loved books today, and drop them off at the donation booths at SM City Grand Central, SM Center Sangandaan, or SM City Valenzuela before October 25. Share a story, inspire a reader.
