Days after Independence Day, the pursuit of economic freedom lived on as hundreds of hopefuls flocked to SM City Marilao for the post-Kalayaan Job Fair, where 38 companies participated and more than 1,700 employment opportunities awaited jobseekers from all walks of life.
Held in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on June 13, the job fair served as a crucial extension of the nationwide Kalayaan Job Fair program, which originally rolled out across 28 SM malls on June 12 in celebration of the country’s 127th Independence Day.

With 38 companies from various industries—including retail, business process outsourcing, logistics, manufacturing, and overseas recruitment—participating in the Marilao leg, the job fair provided a wide range of career options for fresh graduates, experienced professionals, and displaced workers alike.
The job fair in SM City Marilao mirrored the success of a similar event held just weeks earlier at SM Center Pulilan on May 30, where 46 companies participated. Of the 255 applicants, an impressive 69 jobseekers were hired on the spot, reflecting the growing urgency—and potential—for gainful employment in the province.

Beyond matching talents to jobs, the Marilao fair also functioned as a one-stop-shop for employment documentation, with agencies like the Social Security System (SSS), Pag-IBIG Fund, PhilHealth, and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) assisting applicants in securing essential requirements—further streamlining the job-hunting process.
