A Woman Apart: Converge President Grace Uy Wins Stevie Awards for Women in Business

Converge President and Co-Founder Maria Grace Y. Uy was pivotal in the company’s move in 2020 to secure $ 250 million in funding from global private equity, which enabled the company to scale up its expansion nationwide.

Converge President and Co-Founder Grace Y. Uy receives recognition as one of the country's leading female entrepreneurs and tycoons in the prestigious Stevie Awards for Women in Business, winning the Gold Stevie for Woman of the Year - Technology.

The Stevie Awards for Women in Business recognize and reward female entrepreneurs, executives, employees, and the organizations they lead for their impact and contribution to their respective industries.

Aside from being the President of the company, Grace is also the Chief Resources Officer and Chief Risk Officer, two hats that empower her to ensure the company is in a stable financial position and secure its sustainability as a business.

Since Converge's inception in 2007, Uy and her husband, Converge CEO, and Co-Founder Dennis Anthony Uy, have dedicated themselves to uplifting the unserved and underserved, promising to leave no one behind as she works to fulfill the promise of what a digitally connected nation can do. Her input has been critical in steering the company's sustainability agenda and ensuring Converge is financially stable enough to weather market turbulence.

“In the realm of business, where innovation, resilience, and leadership are celebrated, I am thrilled to celebrate this achievement. This award not only recognizes individual accomplishment but serves as an example of women’s impact in shaping the future of business,” said Uy.

Grace Uy outperformed leading women technology executives from around the world, including those from Uber, Microsoft, and GCash.

The average scores of more than 200 business professionals from around the world serving on six juries determined the gold, silver, and bronze Stevie Award winners.

Grace ushered in a series of triumphs in her pursuit to power the digitally connected Philippines by embodying her unique traits as a woman in business.

A confidante and co-pilot of Converge CEO and Co-Founder Dennis Anthony Uy, Grace has her brand of results-oriented and data-driven leadership at Converge.

Co-piloting the business with her husband Dennis, Converge is now the Philippines' fastest-growing fixed broadband provider with a subscriber base of  2.05 million as of Q32023 from approximately 530,000 in 2019.

Grace spearheaded the company's nationwide expansion through significant inter-island connections in Visayas and Mindanao, from major cities to the most remote communities.

Grace aspires to cultivate a community of women leaders in Converge who will take on the mantle in senior management in years to come.

Currently, Converge boasts the most extensive fiber-to-the-home network in the Philippines and one of the country's most advanced and extensive cable systems, having 7.9 million fiber ports nationwide and a remarkable 680,000 km of fiber assets.
