SM Grand Central's Mane Attraction Rings in Year of the Horse

Moving beyond the traditional crimson and gold of the Lunar New Year, SM City Grand Central has unveiled a moving installation to welcome the Year of the Fire Horse with a rotating, "Power Pink" carousel that bridges ancient symbolism with a modern, "Lucky Feels" aesthetic.

The installation, which has quickly become the mall’s "Mane Attraction," features a life-sized pink stallion captured in a spirited mid-stride. Unlike static displays of years past, this centerpiece is a moving carousel, rotating gracefully beneath a towering canopy of cherry blossoms. The rhythmic motion is a deliberate nod to the Horse’s traits of vitality and "unyielding perseverance," symbolizing a community in constant, positive momentum. The installation blends fiery zodiac energy with Valentine’s season hues, creating a vibrant experience for a new generation of shoppers.

Beyond the visual spectacle, the "Lucky Feels" campaign offers a multi-sensory experience, including zodiac-themed claw machines, "CNY Must-Try" food markets, and the traditional Lion and Dragon dances and wushu performances that have become a staple of SM’s cultural heritage.

The Lucky Horse carousel will remain on display throughout the festival season, inviting shoppers to witness the motion and "snap their luck" as they gallop together into a year of prosperity.

Sales agents work hard and earn big in Naga with Surf2Sawa

Robert Borces and Maribel Mancilla from Naga City

Door-to-door sales is no walk in the park, but for Surf2Sawa agents Robert Borces and Maribel Mancilla, the hard work is made a little easier by two things: a supportive retail partner and moreover, an excellent connectivity product loved by Filipinos, the Surf2Sawa prepaid fiber plan.

Neither Robert nor Maribel are new to sales, both were formerly salespeople of a competing telco.

"I was formerly with this telecommunications company, also as a team leader. They changed management and it wasn't a good change for me so I tried Surf2Sawa with Tita Daisy, and I got the job," noted Borces.

Maribel echoed the same story, but she started as an agent with the former company; now with Surf2Sawa, she was elevated to a team leader handling a few sub-agents in Albay and Cam Sur.

Both Maribel and Robert are employed by a Surf2Sawa distributorship in Naga, called Tita Dais FiberX Enterprise Solutions. Tita Dais diligence and care in handling demand in her area - from installation to customer service spurred the growth of her enterprise, and she is now considered a major retailer in her territory.

Converge, in offering the cost-competitive Surf2Sawa, is lowering the barriers for residents to themselves become micro-entrepreneurs. Many subscribers, said the agents, are not just students but work-from-home employees, and some may even have their own online businesses via Instagram or Facebook.

Further, the competitive advantage of Surf2Sawa, offering unlimited fiber internet with no contract at just P 700 a month, also made it an easy sell' to Naga customers.

"Maganda ang bentahan ng Surf2Sawa ngayon. Marami talaga ang nag-aavail kasi mura ito at non-contract ito. Kapag nabenta namin ito sa isang tao ngayon, bukas naman, yung kapitbahay niya," said Maribel.

For Robert and Maribel, every day is a ripe opportunity to sell the fiber prepaid product. Motivated to earn well and bring the low-cost connectivity to kababyans, Robert and Maribel end each day strategizing on where to sell the next day.

"Mag-uusap kami ni Sir Robert kung ano gagawin. May agents siya na hawak online and mga sub-agents ko, pag-uusapan namin, ito ang gagawin natin bukas'. Sumasabay na din dito ang mga nakapila na pupuntahan na sasabihin ni Ma'am Daisy," said Maribel.

For the two team leads, there's no 'secret sauce' to earning well. They earn on commission and on load top-ups so the key is really persistent effort in selling and answering customers' load requirements.

With Surf2Sawa on high demand in Naga and with a lot of flexibility in top-up loading, Robert and Maribel are seeing healthy retums on their hard work, exhibiting the benefits that the connectivity can bring to workers.

With better eaming opportunities with Surf2Sawa, Robert and Maribel intend to keep working hard to provide for their families, while also helping Tita Dais' business to continue thriving.

"Sabi ni ma'am Daisy kailangan lang dito sipag at tiyaga, at kailangan hindi ka ma-zero sa isang araw. Kaya yan ang ginagawa ko pag nag-aarea kami. Iniisip ko, 'ay pera 'to. Yun lang ang mindset ko," ended Maribel.

We’ve All Been There: When Your Train Card Runs Out—There’s a Convenient Alternative!

In a rush and dealing with top-up issues or checking your balance? Commuters now have a reliable way to pay for trains with GCash.

Days move fast. For daily commuters, they are a constant juggle—beating the rush, staying on schedule, and making sure you get from home to work as quickly as possible.

Which is why nothing spikes commuter stress like realizing you’re low on balance—right when you’re already in line, already late, and already surrounded by equally rushed strangers.

Suddenly, it’s a scramble: searching for a top-up station, queuing behind others, or dealing with reloading machines that seem to break only during peak hours or even the ticket booths where card top-up lines merge with single-journey ticket purchases. One Less Thing to Worry About—Thanks to GCash

Your Dinner Plans This Love Month, Now With 20% Cashback When You Pay With Your Maya Credit Card

February usually means more dinner plans than usual. Some are dates. Some are catch-ups. Some are just excuses to go somewhere good. And if a solid night out for you means great food, good company, and a bill that doesn’t kill the vibe, this one’s for you.

This Love Month, Maya, the #1 Digital Bank and leading all-in-one fintech platform in the Philippines, is adding a little extra value to your nights out. Credit Cardholders can enjoy 20% cashback on a minimum single receipt of ₱3,500 at participating restaurants, capped at  ₱1,000, when you pay with your Maya Credit Card.

Whether it’s an intimate table for two, shared plates with friends, or finally checking out that restaurant you’ve had saved for months, the idea is simple: enjoy the night, and get something back.

It works across the kinds of places people usually gravitate toward this season. Think dining at Antonio’s, Gallery by Chele, Toyo Eatery, or Hapag. Intimate, chef-driven spots like Helm, Celera, or Den by Nikkei. Classic go-tos for a dressed-up night out such as Blackbird, Wolfgang’s Steakhouse, Smith & Wollensky, Mamou Prime, or CRU Steakhouse.

And because good nights don’t always end when the plates are cleared, Maya is extending the same 20% cashback to Manila’s bar scene. This month, cardholders can enjoy cashback on a minimum single receipt of ₱2,500 at participating bars, capped at ₱600.

The bar list includes some of the city’s most familiar late-night fixtures such as Blind Pig, After Hours, El Gato, Three Dots, and The Opal Bar, places where one drink is rarely the last.

On top of the cashback, cardholders continue to earn their usual rewards. Maya Black Credit Card users receive up to 10x Maya Miles, while Landers Cashback Everywhere Credit Card holders earn 2% cashback points on eligible transactions.

SM Malls Redefine Valentine’s day with Immersive, Experience-driven Centerpieces

SM Malls in the Northern Metro are proving that the most meaningful "connections" happen in the physical space. This February, SM City Grand Central, SM City Valenzuela, and SM Center Sangandaan have unveiled three immersive installations that move beyond traditional florals to explore the "visual dimension" and "playfulness" of modern love.

SM City Grand Central’s inside the "Love Matrix" is a sprawling, retro-futuristic grid that reimagines love as the ultimate code. Trading roses for a "Cyber-Pink" reality, the installation features glowing cubbies housing metallic chrome hearts, reminiscent of pixel art and high-end galleries. With mirrored monoliths and scrolling LED banners, it’s a masterclass in modern aesthetics designed for the "digital-native." It’s not just a photo op; it’s a reflection of how love remains the central "code" in an increasingly interconnected world.

Taking a more literal and lighthearted approach to the "pursuit of love," SM City Valenzuela has debuted a Giant Love Claw Machine. Anchored by the whimsical metaphor that "Love is like a claw machine and you’re the only prize worth going all in for!" the massive claw is surrounded by neon "LUV" signage, blending the nostalgic joy of the arcade with the sleekness of a modern lounge. It’s a playful reminder that romance, much like the perfect catch, requires both skill and a lot of heart.

Meanwhile, SM Center Sangandaan is proving that some traditions are best served with a cinematic twist. This season, the mall’s atrium has been transformed into a walk-through movie set, anchored by a Giant Heart Seat and a whimsical vintage Telephone Booth that feel pulled straight from a classic romantic comedy. In a city that’s always on the move, SM Center Sangandaan’s Valentine’s Rom-Com Centerpiece offers a charming reminder that love is always just a "call" away.

Inside The Love Matrix, the Giant Claw, and the Rom-Com Set will remain open to the public through the end of February at SM City Grand Central, SM City Valenzuela and SM Center Sangandaan.

2026 LG Ambassador Challenge Opens – Call for Healthcare Projects

LG Electronics Philippines is looking for changemakers, community leaders, and groups nationwide to join the 2026 LG Ambassador Challenge. They want project ideas that help underserved communities, especially in medical aid and community healthcare.

The LG Ambassador Challenge is a CSR program by LG Electronics Philippines. It started in 2022 with partner Korea Friends of Hope International (KFHI). LG gives money and support to people and local groups that come up with good, community-led ways to solve big social problems.

The program follows LG’s global “Life’s Good” idea. It wants to give communities power by letting residents pick their own needs and use new, useful solutions to make life better for the long run.

“Through the LG Ambassador Challenge, we are able to work closely with communities and partners to support initiatives that create real and sustainable change,” said Nakhyun Seong, Managing Director of LG Electronics Philippines. “By empowering individuals and organizations with resources and support, we hope to help build better lives and stronger communities, in line with LG’s commitment to innovation and social responsibility.”

- 2024: Life’s Good Library On the Go in Nagcarlan, Laguna. A mobile library that brings books and learning materials to kids in underserved areas.

- 2023: Solar streetlights in Calauan, Laguna; clean water access in Lawaguin, Laguna; and Paliparan Community Livelihood.

If you’re looking for local delicacies, head over to Taipa Village, where you can stock up on crowd favorites like beef jerky and almond cookies. These treats are delicious, affordable, and loved by locals!

You can also book tickets to teamLab SuperNature Macau, an incredible interactive art space with 8-meter-tall, colorful exhibitions that kids and adults will enjoy.

Here’s a secret hack when paying with GCash abroad: some merchants also offer special promos and discounts up to PHP 1,500 off, just tap Travel and go into Travel Treats to browse what’s available.

Eat without the splurge at Yung’s Tangerine Peel Roast Goose and Cheung Hing Kee

Other than their pan-fried buns, their scallion noodles and wontons are a must-try—perfect bites to snack on when you want to refuel while exploring the city.

A Speedy Comeback: Julia Barretto and Maris Racal Show How Fast Borrowing Can Be with Maya

If you’ve seen Julia Barretto and Maris Racal slap each other with money in their recent Maya video, you already know they make money moments unforgettable. Now, they’re back at it again. But this time, it’s about staying ready when life moves fast.

In Maya’s newest video, Julia and Maris tap into a reality familiar to many Filipinos: when you need cash, you often need it fast. Watch as they show how borrowing with Maya feels:

The visual gag is playful, but the message behind it is clear: getting a loan with Maya is fast, simple, and legit.

Making Lending Feel Relatable and Less Intimidating

By pairing two of today’s most relatable stars with an exaggerated, almost cinematic take on speed, the film reframes lending in a way that feels familiar rather than intimidating. Instead of complex terms or heavy explanations, the message comes through visually and instantly: when life happens fast, getting financial support doesn’t have to feel stressful.

This move is part of Maya’s continued push to make financial services more accessible, transparent, and relevant. As the #1 digital bank and leading fintech ecosystem in the Philippines, Maya brings together savings, payments, credit, and loans in one app, helping Filipinos feel more confident and in control of their money, whether they’re planning ahead or navigating everyday realities.

Fast Access, Real Options

Maya makes borrowing easier through its lending products, starting with Maya Easy Credit, which gives users quick access to a revolving credit line of up to P30,000 directly in the app. Designed for short-term needs, Maya Easy Credit comes with instant approval and quick access to funds, plus low fees and easy repayment, all without paperwork, collateral, or long waiting periods.

For bigger plans or more structured needs, Maya Personal Loan offers higher loan amounts of up to P250,000 with longer repayment terms of up to 24 months. It’s fully digital with a fast and hassle-free approval process. From application to approval, the process is streamlined, reflecting exactly what the film dramatizes: when you need funds fast, Maya gives you access to it– now.

What sets Maya apart, however, is that speed doesn’t come at the cost of responsibility. The platform encourages smart borrowing habits by rewarding users who make consistent and prompt repayments with better loan offers, easier access, and a smoother borrowing experience over time. Simply put: the more responsibly you borrow and repay, the easier it gets next time.

Converge collabs with volunteer groups to bring green initiatives, health services to Aeta community in Pampanga

Converge returned to Brgy. Sapangbato in Angeles, Pampanga for a tree-planting initiative in support of the local government’s watershed reforestation program. Employee-volunteers from Converge with the members of The Fraternal Order of Eagles – Kandili Chapter and Inner Wheel Club of Taguig sowed over 300 seedlings to also strengthen livelihood opportunities for the farmers in the community.

Leading fiber broadband and technology provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc. recently engaged with an Aeta community in Angeles City, Pampanga, through a day of tree-planting and outreach activities aimed at creating lasting, positive impact at the grassroots level.

Working alongside socio-civic group The Fraternal Order of Eagles – Kandili Chapter and the all-women volunteer organization Inner Wheel Club of Taguig, Converge sowed 300 fruit bearing seedlings in the Sapangbato Watershed.

The initiative supports the local government’s watershed reforestation efforts while also helping strengthen the livelihood opportunities of farmers in the community.

The said organizations distributed vitamins and medicines, clothes, and grocery items to the members of the community, helping address their immediate needs.

After the tree planting, the said organizations also conducted a medical mission to bring essential health and dental services directly to residents. Members of the Inner Wheel Club of Taguig gave a health education session on proper oral hygiene, provided basic dental care services, and distributed hygiene kits to community members as part of the outreach.

In addition to these, Converge and the Philippine Eagles also distributed grocery packs, medicines and vitamins, including garments to help address the immediate needs of the families in Sitio Target, Sapangbato.

“This initiative reflects our shared goal of supporting communities in ways that respond to their needs. By working together with other organizations, we were able to do so much for the environment, for the people’s livelihoods, and also in promoting the health and well-being of the community, all in one meaningful effort,” said Converge VP and Head of Corporate Communications and Public Relations Jay-Anne Encarnado.

The engagement of Converge with Sitio Sapangbato builds on an earlier effort where 1,000 mandarin and coffee seedlings were sowed by its employees last year as part of its Women’s Month celebration, led by the mentors and mentees of its women’s leadership program, Grace Under Pressure: MentorSHE.

Overall, Converge planted a total of 4,700 seedlings for the watershed in 2025 in partnership with the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Angeles City, Pampanga.

The sustainability commitment of Converge includes a strong focus on creating positive community impact, which the company fulfills by engaging with marginalized communities through the capabilities of its business.
