Sarah G to independent ladies: Learn how to cook for yourself

The Popstar Royalty shares why cooking gives her a sense of freedom

What is an independent Filipina? Is she someone who likes to do things on her own, learn new experiences as she moves through life, or someone who knows how to take care of herself? For many women, being independent means more than living on their own. It also means experiencing life in her own terms and being able to follow one’s passion without restriction.

Take it from Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo who is starting to claim and enjoy her own independence—free to chase her passion and discover new ones. “Para po sa’kin, being an independent person means kaya mong gawin ‘yung mga bagay na gusto mong gawin. As an independent woman, gustung-gusto ko pong mag-explore ng mga bagay na di ko pa nagagawa, and also learn more about myself in the process.”

One passion she decided to pursue is cooking. “Ang sarap po kasi ng pakiramdam na kaya mong ipagluto yung sarili mo. Whenever I cook, I get that sense of freedom in my own kitchen. I’m free to experiment, try new dishes, or recreate my Mom’s recipes,” she adds. “Kaya to all independent women out there, I advise that you learn how to cook. It’s very empowering to rely on yourself, and a good start will be in the kitchen.”

As testament to her new-found independence in pursuing her passion, Sarah even shared some easy-to-cook recipes. Her favorites are found in the cookbook that comes with every purchase of the all-new Phoenix Super LPG at select super hubs.

Whether you’re living alone or just simply someone who loves to do things on their own, these Sarah G-approved dishes will make you rediscover the joys of cooking (and eating!).

Havas Group Reimagines PR Group with Launch of Red Havas

In line with its global rebranding, Havas PR Philippines becomes part of the Merged Media micro-network.

The passionate and incredible REDsters of Red Havas Philippines (L-R): Marion Esquillo, Havas Group Associate Creative Director; Marco Grajo, Account Manager; Charisse Vilchez, Business Unit Director; Jookie Radoc, Media Relations Manager; Janessa Tek-ing, Senior Account Manager and Cid Santillan, Account Director

As creative and media agencies face a near-daily redefinition of their identities and scopes of work in the modern media landscape, public relations agencies in particular are being completely reconstructed. How can PR companies adopt at the pace of today’s lighting-speed multimedia landscape?

Havas Group, with its shared Merged Media strategy, announced that it has rebranded a number of its award-winning PR and social agencies including its Manila office under a new name, Red Havas. Through Merged Media, the micro-network reimagines the way it does PR and drives its agencies to new heights by blending traditional and digital publishing, content, social media, and data in a way that defines the future of PR as a category.

Red Havas’ office in Manila, Philippines is part of leading fully-integrated media and creative agency, Havas Ortega (HVO). Under the tutelage of Business Director Charisse Vilchez, Havas PR Manila will now be Red Havas Philippines, along with other Asia Pacific-based Red Agency networks in Australia, Singapore and Havas PR North America with offices in New York City, New England, Phoenix and Pittsburgh. In addition, Red Havas has rebranded its Havas PR offices in Vietnam and Jakarta, Manchester, Edinburgh and opened a new office in London. The new brand has expansion plans to Japan and South America within 18-24 months.

“Havas Ortega welcomes the rebranding of our PR team to Red Havas. The current team is more than ready to take on the challenge and bring PR to the next level. Red Havas Philippines, together with its passionate and incredible REDsters, will help create our clients’ brand stories through Merged Media,” said HVO Chief Executive Officer Jos Ortega. “I am confident that with Char’s experience working in two strong online brands OLX and Agoda and her training at Red Havas in Australia, we will be able to live up to our ambition of owning Merged Media in the local scene.”

The rebranding coincides with global-led investments into data, content and bespoke insight tools, which will include listening and predictive analytics platforms that will layer in a foretelling media capability not seen before within the industry.

“The guiding light of PR has always been to integrate brands or organizations stories into the daily conversations of the media ecosystem,” said James Wright, global chairman of the Havas PR Collective and global CEO of Red Havas. “PR is one of the most powerful tools that brands can use to connect to audiences, but it’s essential that it integrates seamlessly across content types and sources and operates at the pace, and in the ways, of today’s consumer. With content, social and predictive data at the core, we’ve built a model that merges all of the various media sources and essentially redefines the PR capability entirely.”

Commenting on the global rebranding, Yannick Bollore, CEO and chairman of Havas Group, said: “Red Havas is a new, transformational and unmatched micro agency network that will help redefine PR and its value to clients. Along with the power of Havas Group and the world-class entertainment capabilities we have within Vivendi, the proposition of merged media becomes very interesting. We have big ambitions to develop and invest in this further.”

Red Havas is part of the Havas PR Global Collective, the PR and communications arm of the Havas Group that comprises approximately 40 agencies around the world and more than 1,300 employees. At this stage, there are no plans to rebrand other Havas-owned PR agencies.

Promil Four's i-Shine 7 Celebrate the Gift Recital

#Promil4iShine7 i-shiner graduates

Last May 10, over 270 Promil Four i-Shine 7 talent camp i-Shiner graduates took the stage to shine bright, wowing the  audience with amazing creations and inspiring performances during Promil Four's i-Shine 7 Celebrate the Gift Recital at SMX Aura.

Ever-supportive parents, relatives, mentors, and other kids filled the SMX Aura Convention Center with cheers and applause as they witnessed future artists, dancers, musicians, ballerinas, and actors conquer the stage.

Seasoned actress Dimples Romana, who has been hosting Promil Four's i-Shine ever since its beginning in 2009, once again had the honor of hosting the recital.

Members and mentors of Art Camp

To begin the celebration, members of the Art Camp, under the mentorship of Teacher Robert Alejandro of Papermelroti and Teacher Kara of Masterpiece Movement, cultivated the value of Imagination through creative exploration and self-expression as they showcased a lovely mural & tunnel that they worked on during their workshop.

Dance Camp participants

Next, participants of the Dance Camp, mentored by G-Force choreographers and guided by Teacher Georcelle Dapat-Sy, brought the house down with both beginner and intermediate hip-hop moves. Through sequences of steps, rhythmic patterns, thumping beats, and awesome formations, each Promil Four i-Shiner explored and found a passion for dance. The value of Teamwork was incorporated as an important part of their learning during their workshops, allowing them to work together while also expressing individuality in their performance.

Ballerinas with Ballet Manila
Meanwhile, the little ballerinas melted the audience's hearts because of their frilly tutus and satin ballet shoes. Personally taught and led by Prima Ballerina Lisa Macuja-Elizalde of Ballet Manila, the little ballerinas demonstrated poise and grace with their smooth and delicate movements. With the help of Promil Four i-Shine 7 Ballet Camp, the little girls learned the value of discipline that they will take with them beyond the workshop.

Theatre Camp

Next, the Theatre Camp i-Shiners showed off their confident, gregarious, and versatile selves on stage. One of the Promil Four Theatre camp i-Shiners' performances was the popular fable "The Boy Who Cried Wolf," directed by Coaches from Trumpets Playshop. Through imagination and creativity, as well as embracing the arts in all its forms, the Theatre Camp took a step closer towards creating well-rounded, confident, and versatile kids.

Music Camp i-Shiners

Members of the Music Camp showcased their gift through a lively performance of voices and instruments in perfect harmony, guided by National Artist, Maestro Ryan Cayabyab.  While the kids learned new musical lessons, they were also imparted with improved skills, confidence, and an increased awareness of the learning and leadership needed to thrive in life.

Promil Four's i-Shine 7 Camps ran from April to May 2019. This year's camp locations expanded beyond Metro Manila with the addition of Batangas, Cebu, and Davao. Promil Four, as part of its commitment, continues to encourage parents to nurture their children's gifts, not only with expert guidance, but also with proper nutrition. The New Promil Four's Nutrissentials are now made even better with Oligofructose, to help support proper growth and mental development. Promil Four is committed to its mission of nurturing the gift in every Filipino child. In partnership with experts, Promil Four's i-Shine Talent Camp 7 helped instill in the participant's values such as imagination, teamwork, versatility, discipline, and harmony to help them shine not just on stage, but in real life as well.

Rebisco awards 55 sari-sari store owners with store makeover and products

Homegrown snack giant Rebisco is spreading the anniversary joy to its grassroots business partners.

As part of its 55th year celebration, Rebisco awarded 55 lucky sari-sari store owners with store makeover and products for each. The winners were selected among hundreds of small business proprietors who shared their stories detailing how the snack food giant has made an impact on their lives and businesses.

According to Rebisco President Jonathan C. Ng, the project was borne out of a simple yet poignant motivation: to express gratitude. “Sari-sari stores are crucial to our business model,” he said. “These entrepreneurs are our loyal and hardworking community partners who help nourish Rebisco’s continued growth and success. This project is one of many ways we want to give back, by empowering them and their businesses.”

Shining the spotlight

Of the 55 winners, three were featured in an online video recently released by Rebisco.

Ester Recinto, a 66-year-old sari-sari store owner from Batangas, runs a strategically located store near an elementary school. She started selling in 1974, with a P300 capital. Over the years, she was able to grow her business from a cabinet display of Rebisco products to an actual store.

Twenty-two-year-old Naname Dahoya from Cebu started a sari-sari store to help augment her parents’ meager income and support her six siblings. She calls Rebisco her “superhero” because the company’s popular snacks helped her small business grow, thus providing her and her family a more stable income.

The third featured winner is Sally Angulo from Zamboanga del Norte. At first, Sally only sold condiments and vegetables but eventually realized that there was a market for snacks. After researching her options, she decided to sell Rebisco products because of its high-quality products at more affordable prices.

“We hope that their stories inspire others to persevere amid adversities,” Rebisco Trade Marketing Head Michelle Ceniza said. “We are grateful to our partner sari-sari store owners for their loyalty and patronage these past five decades. It truly is an honor for Rebisco to be an instrument to the success of their business.”

Stronger partnership

After a momentous year-long anniversary celebration, Rebisco looks to the future with optimism.

“We look forward to sharing more successful years with our sari-sari store partners,” Ng added.
