On July 1, 2025, the League of Corporate Foundations (LCF), a network of corporate foundations dedicated to promoting and enhancing corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices, awarded Rex Education with its coveted CSR Medal of Recognition (Education Category) for helping capacitate the private education sector through its Edukampyon Corps of Trainers.
The Edukampyon Corps of Trainers, originally composed of 67 volunteer members, began as a project to capacitate the private education sector in effectively implementing the MATATAG Curriculum. It quickly evolved to address other identified needs of the said sector, including quality assurance assistance and mentoring (through the REX QA-SAMA Program) and the institutionalization of school-based professional learning communities or PLCs. After a series of enrichment sessions with renowned academic professionals, including 17 major training sessions, the Edukampyon Corps of Trainers has grown to 316 members trained and organized from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. To date, the team has developed 92 unique training materials.
From November to December 2024, they have trained 4,711 teachers on the effective implementation of the new curriculum and have reached nearly 100,000 teachers through a nine-episode webinar series discussing concerns on the implementation of the new curriculum and sharing best practices.
"The Edukampyon Corps is essentially mula sa mga guro, para sa kapwa guro—a perfect complement to REX’s guiding principle of para sa bata, para sa mamamayan, para sa bayan," said Don Timothy Buhain, the CEO of Rex Education.
Instrumental to the success of the Corps of Trainers was Rex Education’s strategic partnerships with the Department of Education (DepEd), the Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations (COCOPEA), the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP), and renowned academicians from the UP College of Education and Xavier School.
The Edukampyon Corps of Trainers is composed of diverse groups of educators teaching different learning areas, academic experts and consultants, school administrators, and accreditors from across the country. By embracing this diversity and capitalizing on this strength, the Edukampyon Corps of Trainers has been able to customize, contextualize, and respond to the needs of the private education sector regardless of their location.
