Jolly University Year 4 Congress and Grand Cook-Off

The country's long-running campus-based culinary search, Jolly University (JU) recently concluded its Year 4 Grand Cook-Off and Congress.

Chef Wilson and DJ Jamie Fournier hosted the event

Now on it's fourth year, Jolly University offered student participants an unforgettable experience to develop their culinary, entrepreneurial, and leadership skills as future culinary and industry leaders. A program designed to empower the youth, JU fosters industry-ready competitiveness, as well as, cooperative relationships among students and institutions in promoting culinary excellence and business innovation.

The steep and well-fought encounter was held at the Le Pavilion Tent in Pasay City last March 3, 2017. 120 elite finalists pulled out their best and most creative JOLLY-inspired dishes to clinch the coveted titles in four categories :

1. Individual Category - featured Luzon Cuisines made easy, healthy and baon-ready

2. Team Main Dish Category -Visayas Cuisines made easy, healthy and JOLLY

3. Team Pasta Category -Mindanao Cuisines made Pastarrific

4. Team Mocktail Category - the team must capture the Jolly Vibe of the Philippines in a Sip

This year's Jolly University elite  finalists are from 23 different schools across North and South Luzon and Metro Manila.

With JU's theme "It's More JOLLY in the Philippines", Jolly University was held in conjunction with the Grand Cook-off and the Jolly Congress, which featured some of the country's top industry practitioners and leaders:

Leo De Leon of Allegro Beverage - taught the audience the reasons why go to the coffee business, the 5 ingredients needed for Success in Business ( A- attitude, B - belief, C - commitment, D - desire, E - enthusiasm)

JC Libiran - author of Byahe ni Juan, inspired the crowd with his true-to-life stories and hugots. And left a very meaningful passage. " Change the Story of your Life"

Too sad, I wasn't able to hear other speakers share their stories, and tips as I have an important mama duties to attend to. Aside from the mentioned, the other speakers were Marilyn Perio. Of UCPB, Liza Morales of CCA Manila, Karla Reyes of La Petite Fromagerie, Nana Ozaeta of Good Magazine, Bryan Kong of Crazy Katsu, Chershire Que (nutritionist), Vberni Regalado of Philippine Star, Jose Mari Oquiñena of Gawad Kalinga, Angelica Atanacio of Anghelica's Desserts, Kian Kazemi of Persian Grill, Rebecca Lee of and Ms. Earth 2015 Angelica Ong
