Caritas Manila Holds Celebrity Bazaar on October 18

Caritas Manila will hold its second Celebrity Bazaar on October 18, Thursday from 1-10pm on the 2nd level of the Mega Atrium of SM Megamall.  Entrance fee is P500 per person.

The bazaar will feature pre-loved luxury items up for sale from generous celebrity donors Heart Evangelista, Alden Richards, Ruffa Gutierrez, Dr. Vicki Bello, Scarlet Snow Belo, Cristalle Bello, Bang Pineda, Teacher Georcelle, Toni Gonzaga, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Vice Ganda, Iza Calzado, Divine Lee, Jinkee Pacquiao, Manny Pacquiao and premier designers Michael Cinco and Cary Santiago. Heart Evangelista is this year’s Event Ambassador.

Proceeds from this year’s bazaar will benefit the Youth Servant Leadership and Education Program (YSLEP) of Caritas Manila. The program sends and supports less fortunate but deserving students nationwide to their college or university of choice.

The first Caritas Manila Celebrity Bazaar was held 2 years ago with former Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach as Event Ambassador. The bazaar earned enough funds to support 5,000 YSLEP Scholars.

At any given time, there are between 3,000 to 5,000 YSLEP scholars nationwide. Figures show that providing a youth a college or vocational degree gives him a 98 per cent chance of helping his family overcome poverty.

“We at Caritas Manila are so grateful for the generosity and enthusiasm of these celebrities to help YSLEP scholars,” comments Fr. Anton CT Pascual, Caritas Manila Executive Director.  Their assistance will go a long way in proving education and support can help realize the potentials of our future leaders coming from the ranks of the poor.”

“To date, more than 10,000 YSLEP scholars have graduated from college and vocational schools nationwide especially from the poorest provinces.”

Caritas Manila is one of the biggest non-profit organizations in the country led by its chairman, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle.

REGROE : Celebrating 28 Years of Hair Growing Tradition - FREE HAIR AND SCALP ANALYSIS

Since September is Alopecia awareness month and Regroe is celebrating their 28 Years of hair growing tradition, Minoxidil Regroe is giving a FREE hair and scalp analysis from September 17-23 at SM Megamall Bldg to know more about the condition of your hair and scalp using their multidermascope.

Alopecia also known as spot baldness, is an AUTOIMMUNE disease in which hair is lost from some or all areas of the body, usually from the scalp due to the body's failure to recognize "self" and destroys its own tissue as if it were an invader.

Alopecia areata (photo from the web)
Shedding around 50 to 100 strands a day is normal. Each strand lost is replaced by new hair from the same follicle located just beneath the skin surface. While shedding is a normal phenomenon, a combination of factors such as heredity and hormonal activity can come into play causing hair follicles to shrink. Over time, this progressive shrinking of hair follicles leads to shortening of the hair growth cycle until there is no growth at all.

Causes of hair fall

* Heredity
* Medication
* Pregnancy
* Stress
* Habitual plucking

Falling and thinning hair need not be feared any longer. Regroe products are here to save the day. Minoxidil Regroe is the only medically proven topical solution to stop thinning and falling, and to regrow hair all at the same time.

When used regularly, Regroe works in three ways:

1. Prevents Hair Fall -Regroe prevents the production of Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) , the hormone responsible for hair thinning and falling.

2. Stimulates Hair Matrix Cells - Regroe directly stimulates the small hair matrix cells to continuously divide and multiply in order to produce longer and thicker hair.

3. Improves Circulation and Nutrition - Regroe dilates and increases the size of smaller blood vessels around the follicles, improving blood flow and oxygenation for better nutrition of the follicles.

Intoducing their newest product Grey Away Anti-Grey Hair Treatment is for people with visible greying of hair. It brings back the natural color of hair strands and prevents it from turning grey without the risk of the harmful effects of colorants.

P 995.00

It contains:

Melitane - a polypeptide that stimulates melanin production, reversing the grey hair process.

EMortal Pep - a 4-amino acid polypeptide that promotes hair growth.

I do not have grey hair, I have WISDOM highlights. Lol

Experience hair rebirth. Bring back the Black. Less hair fall with Regroe.

Minoxidil Regroe is available in all leading drugstores nationwide. For more information, check  Regroe's Facebook page or call 818-11-31.

HATTENDO Japanese Chilled Cream Buns is Oishii

Ohayou!

Recently, I was invited in SM Megamall for a food tasting event of Hattendo Japanese Chilled Cream Buns. *some photos were grabbed from Hattendo Philippine's page.

Hattendo Japanese Chilled Cream Buns

First, let me tell you about their history.

"HATTENDO" is named after a small shrine that stood for centuries in Hiroshima, Japan. Travelers used to rest at this small temple and prayed for their safety. Hattendo also means "unlimited prosperity" .

Mr. Kaoru Morimitsu

Mr. Kaoru Morimitsu, the original founder, believed Hattendo should be the brand name of his new venture, and opened the very first store in 1933

Hattendo takes pride in presenting "Japanese Chilled Cream Buns" to a new Asian market with over 80 years of experience to the highest quality of its products. In 2014, HATTENDO sought out partners outside Japan to share its success, offering dealership in many store formats. Today there are 16 stores in Japan, 3 in Korea, 2 in the Philippines, and the company is looking forward to opening more stores in the years to come.

The dough is very delicate. It is always handmade
So that it is never subjected to vibration or shock.

In order to ensure great taste and safe food, the bread-making, cream preparation, and wrapping are all done by hand. All cream buns are baked in Hiroshima, Japan and they go through a special freezing process for international shipping. With careful packaging and excellent logistic services, frozen buns are shipped exclusively to C3 Premium Partnership, Inc., via refrigerated trasportation to ensure that safe sanitary conditions are maintained throughout the products journey to the Philippines. From the port, products are transported by a reefer container, then stored in a temperature-controlled storage. Cream buns are thawed per batch for 24 hours prior to distribution and selling at stores. Because the buns are shipped frozen and already thawed properly, consumers are advised of proper product handling and shelf life, as per Japan's standards.

You will notice in the wrapper, there are 3 dates:

1. Consume before date ( 8-28-15)  by 2pm. - This event was held last August 27. Why 2:00 PM? Because they thaw the buns every 9:00AM the same day everyday. This one was thawed on August 26 prior to selling at store on the 27th.  It's best consumed after the 24-26 hrs thawing, that's why it is best consumed on the 28th before 2pm to enjoy its freshness. Once, it is thawed, DO NOT REFREEZE , they are best served chilled.

2. Production Date - The date when the buns were baked in Japan.

3. Expiry Date - If the buns were kept frozen and not thawed at all, the buns will last up to almost 6 months.

Hattendo cream buns are available in 7 flavors :

I love their Custard, Mango, Chestnut, Azuki, Whipped Cream, Chocolate and Matcha. Oh, wait! Did I mention all the 7 flavors?! That only means I love them all. ♥♥♥ What I love is the light airy texture and delicate taste of cream that melts in my mouth and its refreshing taste.

My Custard Chilled bun best paired with Jasmine Green Tea
Oishii !!!

Pair up the tasty chilled buns with your favorite drink and get more awesomeness. Best shared with family and friends.

Mr. MITD and our unica love the buns too!!! ♥♥♥
Look at those faces... PRICELESS!

And because he can't get enough of Hattendo,
we braved the heavy rains and traffic
because of the rally the next day for this! :)

Visit their stores at SM Megamall ( Level 2, Mega Fashion Hall), and SM Mall of Asia (GroundFloor, Main Mall). They are also available every weekend at thePower Plant Mall in Rockwell, as part of the Baker's Dozen

BDJRendezvous : A Woman Who Matters

What is your definition of a woman who matters? What for you is an empowered woman?

Yesterday, August 8,  marked the last Belle De Jour Rendezvous for this year with the theme : A Woman Who Matters ! Luckily, I was able to receive an invite from BDJ Team for this event. T'was my first time to attend BDJ's event , I must admit, I enjoyed and learned a lot. From now on I will do anything and everything to join if not all, most of their events because yesterday's event helped me to feel more blessed, informed and empowered. That's why I'm going to share my learnings with you.

We Bellas were fortunate to meet and listen to 3 empowered women: Nikki Duque, Thea de Rivera and Melissa Gohing.

Nikki Duque : Put your Best Face Forward
Professional free lance and celebrity makeup artist. She is also a beauty blogger

Struggling to achieve that corporate chic make-up look? Nikki taught us her tips and tricks to look polished and professional at work. First, she told us the do's and dont's in achieving the corporate chic look.
   Don't :
- do fake lashes in the office
- fixate on embellishing up to your eyebrows
- fake-bake or test-drive any complexion-changing beauty products on weekdays
- do the frosted or glittery lip thing (pls!)

Studies have shown that women who wear make-up to work are more likely to get promoted.

Here are the GROUND RULES in choosing make up products:
- it has to stand the test of time
- it has to be low maintenance and easy for you to be able to complete in a rush
- it should enhance and not hide who you are
- it shouldn't be distracting
- it should make us feel comfortable and amazing!

1. Foundation - Use a good primer. As we all know primer serves as a base for foundation and face makeup that allows it to go on smoother and last longer. She gave her best picks for primers and foundations : Benefit pore fessional, L'oreal 's True match, Maybelline and Clean and clear oil control films
2. Eyebrows and Eyelashes - avoid strong harsh-looking eyebrows. Her trusted products : K-palette and Maybelline's mascara.
3. Eyeshadows and eye liners - brings out eye color and enhance eye shape - she prefers Urban decay Naked palette. Because it has long, lean and seductive case packed with 12 neutrals that works for everyone.

Tips from Nikki:
1. Preparation is always important.
2. Have an emergency makeup kit in your office drawers.
3. Change your make up game once in a while

Thea de Rivera : Finding Your Passion, Making your Mark
Restauranteur, Owner and the creative mind behind The Girl and The Bull and 12/10

Thea of The Girl and The Bull , a restauranteur with a cool hair color (teal/ green!) I like!!!

TIPS:
- Always give 100% hardwork in what you do
- Don't lose yourself in the process of success
- Represent yourself

HOW WAS IT LIKE TO WORK WITH YOUR SIGNIFICANT OTHER?
- You have to lay down your priorities and goals
- Make sure both are of the same page
- Always understand each other
- Maintain healthy relationship
- Always have a mindset of a beginner. There is always something to improve on.
- Always say THANK YOU. (Acknowledge every little thing, Be humble, grounded and GRATEFUL)

WORK - LIFE BALANCE -My work is my life, my life is my work
 - In Achieving 100%, give 100%

As long as you are living, there's life. PASSION is something you stumble upon on, and make the most out of it. - Thea de Rivera

Melissa Gohing : Guide to your Fitness Transgormation
DLSU Lady Spiker - Professional Athlete - Lifestyle blogger

Melissa shared her fitness journey and inspired us to start ours, now! Even on rainy season.

Why fitness is important in our lives? If we don't exercise, there's a possibility that we will have a cognitive problem in the future.

Why exercise is important?
- weight loss
- healthier brain
- osteoporosis prevention
- makes you less stressed
- strength
- decreased health risk
- better skin health
- and last but not the least it makes us happy! :)

When we exercise, our body releases these feel good neurotransmitters called endorphins. The increase in endorphins in our body leads to a feeling of euphoria, modulation of appetite, the release of different sex hormones, and an enhancement of immune response which combats the negative effect of stress.

NO EXCUSES EVEN ON RAINY SEASON
1. just choose what you think you will love. Select physical activities that you enjoy. If you enjoy lifting weights then don't begin training for a marathon or try a thriathlon. Stick with what you like doing to keep motivation levels high.
2. choose your inspiration. This is what others called #fitspiration.. Mine is Ina Raymundo and Jennilyn Mercado. Like them, I'm also a mom who would want to have a healthy and maintain a voluptuous body. Hehe.

We could still exercise even on rainy season with the following:
 - crossfit (strength and resistance training)
 - pilates (carve the core) for the back and core
 - yoga (corrects posture)
 - spin class (ride and burn calories)
 - kickboxing (burn calories and fats)

Stop saying "You can't. You can!". Overcome the things you once thought you can't do. There's no where to go but UP! - Melissa Gohing

Whatever exercise you try, you will soon discover its major benefit. It allows you to forget your problems. Exercise helps you to shed the day's irritations and the focus you place on your feel good exercise results in higher energy levels and optimism can help you feel clearer and calmer. It maintains a more positive look afterwards. Melissa left us with a quote from J. K. Rowling " And so, rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life"

This for me is a definition of a strong woman:

- a strong woman, is not the one who doesn't cry. A strong person is the one who cries and sheds tears for a moment, then gets up and fights again.

- strong women wear their pain like they do stilletos. No matter how much it hurts, all you see is the beauty of it.

- a strong woman loves, forgives, walks away, lets go, tries again and perseveres. no matter what life throws at her

-"Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow." - Mary Anne Kadmacher

Exceptional Birthday Celebration at Chelsea Kitchen

Tinapa pizza, anyone?!

Me! Me! Me! Raising both hands and feet. LOL. I think this is what I commented on Justin Vawter's X Chelsea Kitchen blog giveaway, 'coz I was really intrigued with this tinapa pizza. In short, I got Mr. Vawter's heart and so I won! Yay!

I so love tinapa ever since I was a kid, as stated on my previous post, I can eat like 5-7 cups of rice so long it's tinapa that's on the table. Believe it or not. But that's the truth. My mom and those closest to me know this. I am a tinapa monster. (with fish sauce and tomatoes as side dish..ahhh.. Heaven!)

Tinapa is the Filipino term that usually refers to fish preserved through the process of smoking. It is a native delicacy in the Philippines and is often made from blackfin scad (Alepes melanoptera, known locally as galunggong), or from milkfish, which is locally known as bangus.

Since I want my picky eaters to be unfussy about food, we (Mr. MITM and I) decided to celebrate our unica hija's birthday at Chelsea Kitchen.

At first, I was a bit scared that my daughter won't eat the pizza since she's used to eat only at what "kids-food chain" offers. But to my surprise, she ate the pizza, not only one slice, but 2! Yes! She ate 2 slices of tinapa pizza. I'm so happy that she loves tinapa as much as I do.

Here's what we had. By the way, Chelsea Kitchen's food serving is good for sharing that made it very affordable and economical.

12" stone-fired Tinapa Pizza  P320
( tinapa cream, cherry tomatoes, and arugula)

Creamy Bolognese P350
(spaghetti, topped with alfredo sauce and parmesan)

Chelsea's Birthday Cake P195
( a must try! It melts in your mouth)

The food is very good. All are freshly made. The menu offers variety of food.

Its cozy ambiance was great. Very relaxing and comfy maybe because we were seated at the couch. The staff are very accomodating, friendly and courteous.

'Twas indeed an exceptional birthday celebration!

With the happy birthday girl! ♥

Pak! Certified tinapa lovers !!! ♥

Again, thank you to Mr. Justin Vawter and Chelsea Kitchen for this astonishing experience.
