Singapore Cable Car’s SkyOrb Cabin Takes Its Maiden Flight on 15 March 2024

Last March 15, Mount Faber Leisure Group officially launched the new futuristic SkyOrb Cabins on the Singapore Cable Car – Mount Faber Line. The launch of the SkyOrb Cabins took place at Mount Faber Peak, as part of the Singapore Cable Car’s 50th anniversary celebrations. The event was attended by Mr Bob Tan, Chairman of Sentosa Development Corporation and Ms Thien Kwee Eng, Chief Executive Officer of Sentosa Development Corporation, as well as Mr Michael Syn, Chairman of Mount Faber Leisure Group and Mr Buhdy Bok, Managing Director of Mount Faber Leisure Group.

SkyOrb Cabins – A cabin like no other in the world

Exclusively designed for the Singapore Cable Car, the SkyOrb Cabin is the world's first chrome-finished spherical cable car cabin. Unlike conventional cabins, the spherical design of the SkyOrb Cabins breaks the boundaries of traditional cable car aesthetics, offering a futuristic and captivating look.

The SkyOrb cabin boasts a spectacular view through its glass-bottomed floor

Fitted with glass-bottomed floors to allow guests to view the scenery below their feet, the new cabins offer guests an elevated journey with a stunning panoramic view of the skyline. As night falls, a captivating ring of lights surrounds the cabin windows, casting an illuminating glow that imparts a distinctly futuristic ambience.

The SkyOrb Cabins have been thoughtfully designed with double window louvres at the front and triple window louvres at the rear, providing enhanced air ventilation for guests on board. To offer an exclusive experience, only seven SkyOrb Cabins will join the existing fleet, enriching the vibrancy of the Sentosa skyline.

SkyOrb Cabin on the Mount Faber Line

“Each SkyOrb cabin, a gleaming chrome orb soaring through the sky, embodies modern design. These cabins offer guests a one-of-a-kind experience, taking them on a discovery between Mount Faber Peak and Sentosa, unveiling breathtaking views along the way,” said Mr Buhdy Bok, Managing Director of Mount Faber Leisure Group.

Collaboratively designed between Mount Faber Leisure Group and renowned cable car cabin manufacturer CWA, the SkyOrb Cabins showcase product innovation and commitment to creating new unique experiences for guests. Based in Olten, Switzerland, CWA has enjoyed a long partnership with Mount Faber Leisure Group since the first generation of the Singapore Cable Car cabins was launched in 1974.

The SkyOrb Cabins will be open for guests to experience from 20 March 2024 and tickets will be available for sale at the Singapore Cable Car Mount Faber and Sentosa Station ticketing counters from the same day. Home Credit Philippines treats 14,000 workers to a magical trip to Enchanted Kingdom and other places for its tenth anniversary

In honor of its tenth anniversary, Home Credit Philippines (HCPH) recently threw joyous gatherings for its 14,000-strong employees. For the first time in the history of the top consumer financing organization, celebrations for its employees, their families, and friends were planned nationally at a variety of resorts and convention centers.

Over 6,700 workers from Metro Manila and the neighboring provinces were given a fantastic day at the Enchanted Kingdom to ensure optimum enjoyment. For the duration of the event, the theme park was closed for two days. Two standard day passes, pocket money, a complimentary souvenir photo, and a transportation subsidy were all offered to the staff. Each employee was additionally permitted to host a maximum of five visitors.

In keeping with its motto, "No small roles. Everyone is important," the remaining staff members of HCPH's thirty local offices throughout twelve regions celebrated by taking part in a variety of outdoor and aquatic activities at nearby resorts and convention centers.

"The Home Credit family has grown significantly since our first year of operation here in the Philippines. We started with 158 employees and have now reached an impressive number of 14,000 in just 10 years. With this expansion, stronger employee engagement is needed to ensure that our workforce is in their best mental and physical condition. We recognize the valuable role our employees play in the company's success. As a response, we provide them with opportunities to achieve personal victories and focus on other aspects of their lives, including their mental health. This work break, in celebration of our 10th anniversary, is just one of our projects to promote work-life balance," said Alpha Omega Aquino, HCPH Chief People Officer.

Yes, your family can now travel!

Itching to go on a family vacation but still wary of mingling with crowds? Don’t worry. You can still take that much-needed holiday without overexposing yourself and your loved ones with the help of the right planning and itinerary. Here’s a compilation of off-the-beaten-path travel ideas that could satisfy your wanderlust.

Take to the outdoors

One of the easiest ways to shrug off two-year-long cabin fever is to take to the outdoors. Let the kids stretch their muscles and experience nature in full bloom by taking them on easy hikes. Beginner mountain trails on Mt. Oro in Rizal, Mt. Tayawan in Benguet, or         Mt. Samat in Bataan can be trekked by children from one to three hours, depending on their age, weather, and trail. Hikes not only teach kids to care for the environment, but it also helps them achieve a sense of accomplishment.

Better by a campfire

If you’re not quite ready to go on a trek, try camping instead. Various campsites are open to day trips and overnight accommodations. More often than not, these camping grounds also have access to natural resources like lakes, rivers, hiking trails, or breathtaking views. Don’t have camping gear? Not a problem! Some sites also offer tents, cookware, boat, sports gear, or sleeping bag rental.

Sleep under the stars in style

Another option to this, of course, is glamping or glamorous camping. Glamping sites have either decked-out tents complete with beds, electric fans, or air conditioning, while some offer tiny cottages or container van cabins. To create a nature-inspired ambiance, some glamping sites also have pools, lagoons, or view decks.

Your own private paradise

If you’re looking for a more secluded location that will guarantee your family some privacy, consider renting a private villa near a lake or beach, or if you’re feeling more adventurous, a private island. There are numerous beachfront properties for rent in Batangas, Zambales, and other parts of the country. While there are several private islands in Laguna, Palawan, and Occidental Mindoro that accept short-term stays. Having a place all to yourself not only limits your exposure to the virus but also encourages more bonding time with the family.

Cross-country road trip

Got time on your hands? Plan a road trip across the country. Through the use of roll-on roll-off (RORO) transport access you can practically drive on and off from one province to the next. You can also opt to stay close to your home base. If you’re based in Manila, for example, you can plan a trip two-day trip to the north or a drive to the southern tip of Luzon. Make the trip more interesting and educational to young ones by incorporating stops at historical sites. You may also book experiential or cultural tours in each province where kids can learn either a handicraft, local dish, or cultural activity.

Whatever travel option you choose, always follow the health protocols in the letter. You might also want to consider getting travel insurance to safeguard yourself and your loved ones from any travel emergency. Malayan Insurance Co. Inc.’s Travel Master provides a financial safety net in case you or your family gets COVID-19 or figures in an accident during the trip. For a safer travel experience, visit www.malayan.com.

How to scam-proof your travel abroad

Ctto
Travelling is a great way to unwind and enjoy what life has to offer, but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be mindful of your safety.

Scams abound in every part of the world.  As the travel industry grows in popularity, scammers and other criminals are also growing in numbers, devising ways to trick unsuspecting tourists from transportation overcharge and forced purchases to ATM skimming and credit card fraud.

PSBank advises travelers to exercise caution when setting foot in foreign lands. Here are some safety measures you can take for a scam-free and enjoyable vacation:

Inform your bank or Credit Card Company if you're travelling outside of the country. Although most banks have systems in place where they will send you an SMS alert to confirm a purchase before they are processed, and/or a text message and email notification to inform you of your transactions, you will be helping your bank monitor and secure your accounts from any suspicious usage by informing them of your travel plans. This way your bank won’t assume that your debit, prepaid or credit card is being used fraudulently and block it.

Be wary of public wifi.
Hackers can easily set up "free" public WiFi networks and bait people to use them so they can sniff your login passwords or use your accounts while you're still logged in to the websites without the need for your password. Always ask the hotel, coffee shop or airport personnel their valid WiFi hotspots for guests. If you have to connect to a free WiFi network, never use it to log in to your email, social media or bank accounts.

Never provide debit or credit card details via phone, text or email.
Emails and texts were not created with data privacy in mind. Unencrypted email is an unsecure way to send sensitive information. Emails, SMS, or phone calls can be hacked, spoofed, and eavesdropped. When travelling, it is best to avoid providing personal and financial information through these channels.

Look for the lock.
Aside from a web address that begins with “https:” where “s” stands for ‘secure’, a lock icon on your browser is another indication that the site you are on is safe to use. When booking plane tickets and hotels, or when making online purchases, make sure you can see the padlock symbol in the address bar, before you provide your personal or financial details.

Keep your card visible when making payments.
When paying for your purchases and services using your debit or credit card, make sure that they process your payment in your presence. This way, your card is visible and always with you.  Thus, preventing multiple unauthorized card swipes and skimming.

Monitor your accounts regularly.
Monitor your accounts even when you are abroad to ensure that there are no unauthorized transactions. For added security to PSBank Debit and Prepaid Mastercard cardholders, turn on the ATM Lock feature in your PSBank Online or PSBank Mobile App to keep your account safe from ATM skimming and other card-based electronic fraud.

Be vigilant.
If you think that your bank account has been compromised or noticed any suspicious movements, report it immediately by calling your bank’s customer service hotline.

“Learning how to secure your accounts and avoid obvious threats goes a long way in protecting your personal information and money most especially when you travel,” says PSBank First Vice President for Information Security Dan Jose Duplito.
