Bears of Joy Bring Holiday Cheer to Children with Special Needs in SM Valenzuela & SM Grand Central

SM City Valenzuela volunteer proudly hands an SM Bear of Joy to a child with disability. The mall contributed 700 bears, matched by SM City Grand Central, totaling 1,400 plush toys for children with special needs and PWDs.

In a season marked by joy and giving, SM Malls in Grand Central and Valenzuela closed 2024 on a heartwarming note with their annual Bears of Joy donation, bringing smiles to children with special needs and persons with disabilities. The campaign, which underscores SM’s commitment to community upliftment, saw the donation of 1,400 plush toys to various beneficiaries across Caloocan and Valenzuela.

SM City Valenzuela spearheaded the effort, contributing 700 bears, while SM City Grand Central added 700 to the tally. The plushies—adorable oval-shaped companions inspired by the viral Squishmallow trend—were distributed to beneficiaries such as Valenzuela’s Persons with Disability Affairs Office and the Alliance of PWD in Caloocan City Inc.

For the children who received them, the Bears of Joy were more than just toys—they became symbols of hope and love. Each plushie represents the spirit of the holiday season and the Filipino tradition of bayanihan, fostering a sense of belonging and care for the less privileged.

The initiative was spearheaded by SM Cares, Toy Kingdom, and SM Supermalls, reinforcing the collective power of compassion. The program also reflects the profound impact of collective goodwill, proving that small gestures of kindness can leave lasting imprints on the lives of those who need it most.

#HappyBEARday : SM Bears of Joy unveiled the Joy Squad

SM supermalls nationwide celebrated its first ever #happyBEARday last December 1, 2019 at The Galeon Museum in Mall of Asia. A special day dedicated not only to the cuddly and cute SM Bears of Joy- a staple side of Christmas at SM for the past 8 years, but also to pay tribute to families and kiddie supporters who take part in SM Cares, Toy Kingdom, and SM Supermalls' annual Christmas charity project that aims to bring smiles to more kids during the holiday season.

Four new bears aka JOY SQUAD were introduced to delight and inspire kids to reach for their dreams. Representing some of the top dream jobs of kids worldwide, the Joy Squad is composed of AJ (Ariana Joy) The Star, FJ (Franco Joy) The Savior, PJ (Paul Joy) The Hero, and CJ (Carina Joy) The Achiever. SM shoppers can now collect and bring home the four bear characters for a joyous Christmas treat for their loved ones and children charities.

SM MARIKINA'S GRAND CHRISTMAS CARNIVAL 2018

Come and feel the Yuletide Season at SM Marikina with their Grand Christmas Carnival theme!

The Christmas tree lighting and unveiling of their centerpiece happened last November 11, 2018, both kids and kids at heart were in awe during this exciting event.

You will feel like you are in a carnival once you enter the mall, combine it with decorations for Christmas and you will have excitement overload.

The program started with SM Little Stars 2018 3rd runner-up Sylvannah Jaime Manuelaurice Garcia giving out a very amazing performance, followed by AC Bonifacio, one of the winners of Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids Edition. After the carnival show, the children were excited because Santa Claus made an appearance!

Naughty or nice, SM wishes to invite you to bring the kids to meet and greet Santa from November 30 to December 25.

SM City Taytay commenced the Christmas Season with the Ponies

Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Applejack and Rainbow Dash are some of the My Little Pony characters I've been hearing from my kids when they are playing. Who wouldn't fall in love with these colorful ponies from their manes to bodies and the "cutie marks" on one or both sides of their flanks. Honestly, I find them adorable. 🙂

Last November 5, special guests from Taytay LGU and SM Executives spearheaded the unveiling of SM City Taytay Christmas centerpiece : My Little Pony 

Don't worry if you missed  the Christmas launch you can still catch them ponies at SM Taytay on the following dates: Nov 12, 13, 26 and 27. On the 27th it will be a whole day of fun-filled activities such as cupcake decorating, photo booth, face painting that I know kids and kids at heart will enjoy.

During the event SM  Bears of Joy or the share a bear program of sm cares  was also launched. Purchase 2 bears for only P200.00, one bear will go to a partner institution of the mall. With SM Taytay, the beneficiaries of the bears will be the students of Sta Ana Elementary School SPED Department.
