Defensil Isopropyl Alcohol introduced newest Ambassadors

Defensil Isopropyl Alcohol is welcoming Richard Gutierrez, Sarah Lahbati, and kids as brand ambassadors

Defensil Isopropyl Alcohol continues its campaign to be Filipino families’ ally in germ protection as they welcome newlyweds, Richard Guttierez and Sarah Lahbati, together with their adorable kids Zion and Kai, as their brand ambassadors.

Richard and Sarah’s family also needed to go through a lot of adjustments in the new normal. One adjustment that they had to do was to look for better ways to protect their family against germs. They found their newest ally in Defensil 70% Solution Isopropyl Alcohol, which promises a higher level of protection against germs and viruses.

About Defensil 70% Solution Isopropyl Alcohol

One way to prevent the spread of germs is regular disinfection of hands and high touch surfaces using a rubbing alcohol.

To provide a higher level of defense against germs in the new normal, the Philippine Society for Microbiology is recommending Defensil 70% Solution Isopropyl Alcohol.

Created by Beauty Elements Ventures Inc, Defensil 70% Solution Isopropyl Alcohol

·        kills 99.9% of germs to give people the peace of mind that they are well-defended.

·        It starts to kill germs on contact and upon constant use, will provide up to 12-hour protection.

Defensil 70% Solution Isopropyl Alcohol is also a pharmaceutical grade alcohol, which means that it has passed the strictest quality standards of the Philippine Food & Drug Administration (FDA). To know if an alcohol is pharmaceutical grade, people can check the label.

Isopropyl Alcohol Label 101: Pharmaceutical vs. Cosmetic Grade Isopropyl Alcohol

Isopropyl Alcohols are registered under the Philippine FDA as either Pharmaceutical or Cosmetic Grade. To know the difference, the front label of a pharmaceutical grade alcohol shows the product’s generic name enclosed in a box. Meanwhile, the back label should show a DRHR number, which is the FDA Production Registration Number, proving that the product has passed the highest FDA Standards for isopropyl alcohol.

Go beyond resilience to renaissance –UnionBank President and CEO

Union Bank of the Philippines (UnionBank) held the seventh iteration of its E-Talk Tales webinar series last December 9, wherein UnionBank President and CEO Edwin Bautista gave an overview of the Bank’s milestones in the past year and how it went from providing help for Filipinos to survive the pandemic to creating a better digital normal for everyone.

UnionBank made headlines in May this year after being named ‘second most helpful bank in Asia-Pacific’ in the BankQuality Consumer Survey on Retail Banks that was conducted in April.

This helpfulness was evident in UnionBank’s commitment to ensuring that its essential banking services remained accessible and reliable 24/7 during the enhanced community quarantine period, a time when uncertainties ran rampant and the needs of customers could change at any time.

The Bank helped the government in the disbursement of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)’s Social Amelioration Program (SAP) cash assistance to 700,000 beneficiaries
amounting to P4.9 billion. It also assisted partner Local Government Units (LGUs) in the distribution of cash or loan proceeds to constituents.

UnionBank has also helped countless micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) digitize amid the pandemic through its MSME platform GlobalLinker, and through MSME-leaning platforms Sentro, SeekCap, and bux, which are offered by its fintech spinoff UBX. To date, more than 27,000 online shops have already been made using Sentro, SeekCap now has more than 16,000 MSME signups, and bux has over 92,000 users. GlobalLinker's user base is also now at more than 38,000.

Another sector of society that UnionBank was able to assist especially at the height of the pandemic were teachers, with the help of its thrift bank subsidiary CitySavings Bank. To date, CitySavings has extended a total of P26.1 billion in teachers' loans, P3.2 billion in motorcycle loans, and 2.9 billion in MSME loans to beneficiaries.

And now, with the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic in the rearview mirror, UnionBank has begun the next major phase in its digital transformation journey, going full-speed ahead from merely displaying its resilience in the face of an unprecedented global health crisis, toward a renaissance in innovation and co-creation.

UnionBank has been a leader in the practice of the agile methodology, which enables the Bank to react quickly to any situation and achieve innovation at a much faster rate. But the Bank knew it had to become much faster. So, to do this, the company started migrating to an even faster way of working: DevSecOps.

Short for “development, security, and operations,” DevSecOps is an ideology that aims to integrate security into every stage of the development-deployment cycle. With this new methodology, the Bank has been able, among other advantages, to test new features that they develop much faster and deploy the said features on an almost real-time basis. Moving forward, DevSecOps will play a key role in the creation of new services for the Bank.

Aside from DevSecOps, another key element of the Bank’s digital renaissance is data science and AI. This will be implemented across various verticals within the Bank, from mobile banking to credit, from algorithms to operational enhancements, among others.

"This is really the time wherein, together we can usher in a renaissance in the area of banking and technology. It's an area where the Philippines can not only be a fast follower, but can actually be a trailblazer in the banking world,” Bautista said.

Essential Nutrients of Blueberries Plus No-Bake Blueberry Cheesecake Recipe

No-Bake Blueberry Cheesecake

Our family’s medical history is one of the reasons why I keep an eye on our lifestyle. I take extra measures to help reduce the risk of cancer and this involves daily exercise and a balanced diet.

I choose foods that are high in antioxidants like fruits and veggies because they protect our body from free radicals. These nasty free radicals can damage our cells and contribute to aging and diseases, such as cancer.

One of the fruits with the highest levels of antioxidants is the yummy blueberry. Though miniature in size, they are also proof that, when it comes to nutrition, good things do come in small packages.

These are the four essential nutrients of blueberries:

1. Blueberries contain Vitamin C

In just one serving, you can get about 15% of your daily requirement of Vitamin C. Vitamin C helps support the immune system and promotes wound healing.

2. Blueberries are a good source of dietary fiber.

A handful of blueberries can help you meet your daily fiber requirement. Dietary fiber may reduce the risk of heart disease and adds bulk to your diet, which may help you feel full faster.

3. Blueberries are high in Manganese.

Manganese helps the body process cholesterol and nutrients such as carbohydrates and protein.

4. Blueberries are rich in Vitamin K.

Vitamin K refers to a group of fat-soluble vitamins that play a role in blood clotting, bone metabolism, and regulating blood calcium levels.

Blueberries are low in fat and sodium, have just 80 calories per cup and contain a category of phytonutrients called polyphenols. This group includes anthocyanins, which are compounds that give blueberries their blue color. Anthocyanins are a class of compounds with antioxidant effects.

I’m so thankful that blueberries are available in the Philippines throughout the year. We can enjoy fresh blueberries from the U.S. from April to September. Meanwhile, frozen blueberries from the U.S. are in stores year-round.

Farmers Best Frozen Highbush Blueberries

I recently prepared a No-Bake Blueberry Cheesecake for the family. Check out the quick and simple recipe below:

2 cups crushed graham crackers

½ cup melted butter

1 pack all-purpose cream 250ml

1 cup cream cheese

½ cup condensed milk

Farmers Best Frozen Highbush Blueberries

1. Combine graham crackers and butter. Mix well. Set aside.

2. Beat all-purpose cream, cream cheese and, condensed milk until smooth and fully incorporated.

3. In a container, layer graham crackers, cream mixture, and blueberries alternately

4. Keep in the refrigerator to keep cold. Serve chilled.

I wasn’t kidding when I said it’s an easy-peasy recipe. You can make this blueberry cheesecake in half an hour. It’s delicious, too! It has the perfect balance of sweet and tart. It’s so creamy good!

One important thing to note, though, is that frozen blueberries are as healthy as fresh blueberries. They’re frozen straight from the farm, with all the good stuff locked in - nutrients, freshness, and flavor. An advantage it has from fresh blueberries is that it has a longer shelf-life and can stay in the freezer for months. You just need to thaw them before use, or not at all when you want to make cold blueberry smoothies or fruit shakes.

Interested in frozen blueberries from the U.S.? You can find Farmers Best Frozen Highbush Blueberries in the frozen aisle of supermarkets. Exclusive to Rustan's Supermarket outlets are brands offering frozen U.S. blueberries like Essential Everyday and Sunny Select.

I’ll feature my Blueberry Pistachio Parfait on my next blog. Please stay tuned!
