Vivo co-sponsors Darren Espanto’s Unstoppable birthday concert

Vivo local endorser and one of the biggest artists in the country to date, Darren Espanto wowed fans in a birthday concert held last May 26 at the KIA Theatre.

The concert, fittingly entitled  Unstoppable, was representative of Darren and his unwavering talent. Darren, who started singing at only two years old and then entered the music industry at a tender age of 13, is truly unstoppable with concerts, appearances, and album launches left and right. As a proof of his rising celebrity, the Unstoppable concert was graced by guests including budding singer Jayda Avanzado.

Darren was indeed unstoppable during his show at the Kia Theatre on May 26.

Darren despite his young age, performed like a real pro.

Darren’s Unstoppable concert was co-presented by Vivo, one of the top three smartphone brands in the country today. Apart from Darren’s impressive performances, fans were treated to a special meet-and-greet segment where questions from Twitter were entertained by the young performer.

Darren was officially signed as a Vivo endorser last year and he has since graced several Vivo events such as the brand’s Christmas outreach activity bringing joy to 150 soldiers from Marawi at the Armed Forces of the Philippines hospital, the Vivo V7+ All Screen Experience mall tour at SM Marikina November last year, among others.

Darren made sure that his fans had a good time at his solo concert.

Darren, a self-confessed K-pop junkie who can both sing and strut a mean dance move to boot, is set to do more Vivo event appearances as the year progresses.

Vivo young global smartphone brand is already leading the pack to the future

When young global smartphone brand Vivo entered the mobile industry, the market was dominated by two or three names. But in a matter of years, Vivo changed the game.

Vivo has been determined to break barriers and introduce technology that ushered the industry into the future. After all, it was Vivo that introduced a 20-megapixel dual front camera in V5 Plus and a 24MP front camera in V7, V7+, and V9.

The V5 is the first smartphone with a 20MP camera.
The V5 was then followed by the release of the V5Plus (left) and V5s (right), both with 20MP selfie camera. The V5Plus, meanwhile, has a 20MP+8MP dual rear camera.

Aside from the selfie camera, Vivo also paid attention to the users’ need for a bigger screen. Earlier this year, Vivo released the ultimate iteration of a concept smartphone, the APEX™ FullView™, which nearly has a 100% screen-to-body display. The V9, Vivo’s newest flagship, is getting closer togoal with its 90% screen-to-body ratio.

Vivo is also the first to introduce the in-display fingerprint scanner that gives users another method to unlock their smartphones.

Vivo then introduced the first smartphones with 24MP front camera, the V7+ (left) and V7 (right).

Vivo then released the upgrade to its cameras, the V9 with a 24MP AI Selfie Camera and 16MP+5MP dual rear camera.

It is still a wonder what Vivo will do next. For instance, it wowed the tech world with its bezel-less APEX concept smartphone because of its pop-up selfie camera to achieve the 100% screen-to-body ratio.

Helping the brand unlock the next best thing in the mobile industry are 2,200 dedicated research and development personnel in several R&D centers worldwide—in San Diego, United States and in China, specifically in Shenzhen, Dongguan, Nanjing, Hangzhou, and Beijing.

With all its development, it is no doubt that the young smartphone brand is already leading the pack to the future.

5 must-haves for a perfect getaway

With the temperature peaking at around 35 degrees Celsius daily, the warm weather in the Philippines beckons a trip to the nearest beach.

While packing for the road trip, there are some items you need to put in your weekender bag to make the most out of your short respite from the heat.

Smartphone for selfies

Never leave for a trip without your smartphone! Well, that is unless you are trying to get off the
grid. Your smartphone can be your ultimate travel buddy that will document your getaways, help you stay on track with its GPS feature, and more. If you are looking for a new smartphone, consider getting a Vivo V9. The latest flagship of the global smartphone brand is a knockout for taking selfies and photos. It has a 24-megapixel AI selfie camera and a 16MP+5MP dual rear camera for capturing your best beach moments.

Water bottle for hydration

Lounging under the sun may give you a great tan, but remember to keep hydrated with a bottle of water at hand’s reach. Make sure you ditch the single use of plastic bottles by bringing your own bottle. Klean Kanteen has a wide array of stainless steel water bottles including insulated ones to keep your drinks cold throughout the day.

Beach blanket for convenience

Lying on the beach with a book in hand is one of the best ways to kill time—until you stand up
only to spend minutes trying to brush off sand from your skin or your mat! Lagu beach blankets can help you. These blankets repel sand to keep them on the beach. Plus, their unique linen blend is allergen-free with quick-dry properties.

Swimwear for extreme activities

Although there are now a lot of shops that offer fashionable swimwear, make sure you stick to
those that are made for the rough waves—especially if you are planning to try different beach and water sports like volleyball or surfing. Speedo is a trusted brand by many athletes because of its high-quality swimwear and accessories. With the proper sizing, every Speedo swimwear has a snug fit to keep you focused on the game.

Sunblock for protection

Your time at the beach can leave a mark—literall. While you can avoid the sunburn by staying
indoors, you might miss out on all the fun. Instead, you may opt to wear rash guards and other protective accessories like wide-brimmed hats. You should also make sure you apply sunblock before going out to the beach. Lightweight and water-resistant, the VMV Hypoallergenics’ Armada Sport 70 may be a sound choice. It shields your skin from UVA and UVB rays to prevent sun-related problems.

Kwentong Kuto: Sanhi at Paano Maiiwasan Ito

Horror story in 3 words : Mama! Ang kati! (Mom, it's itchy!)

Head lice. Photo not mine. Please. Hehe. CTTO

Awww... poor little ones. I remember when my kids were still small, we had a yaya with lice or kuto! Horrible.

Ang suyod. Kilala nyo ba siya?

And the only way I know to get rid of them (lice) was with the use of suyod (lice comb) but have not been proven to be fully effective in completely eradicating head lice.

Because my kids are clingy, there's really a big chance for them to get afflicted and me too. So, the nightmare happened. My kids experienced sleepless nights, they became restless because of itcy scalp and bugnutin every morning due to lack of sleep. Kung hindi lang namin kailangang -kailan ng Yaya noon coz MITD and I were both working, pinaalis na namin siya. Agad agad.

Recently I was invited to a bloggers' event where head louse is the topic.

What are head lice? Lice is plural for louse. Head lice or kuto are parasites that are found on human heads. They are spread by personal contact of sharing of combs, brushes, caps, towels and other clothing. Head lice are a common problem with pre-school and school children.

Who is at risk for getting lice?
Anyone who comes in close contact with someone who already has head lice, or even their contaminated clothing and other belongings, is at risk for acquiring head lice. So it is easy to transmit head lice from one person to another. Preschool and elementary-school children (7-12 years of age) and their families are infected most often. Girls contract head lice more often than boys.

For effective elimination of head lice, the infested individual, family members that are also infested, and the home must all be treated. It is important to remember that treatment should only be started if there are clearly live lice identified. The ideal treatment of lice should be safe, free of toxic chemicals, readily available without a prescription, easy to use, effective and inexpensive. Good thing Aspen Philippines, a subsidiary of Aspen Pharmacare Holdings Limited, Africa's largest pharmaceutical manufacturer and the biggest listed pharmaceutical group in the healthcare sector of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange aims to make high-quality branded medicines available to Filipino patients at affordable cost. Permethrin (Kwell) for head lice is one of their products and "Kwella sa Es-Kwella at Komunidad" ang isa sa kanilang mga healthcare programs as a response to the Dept. of Education's (DepEd) need for information campaign on proper hygiene and treatment for pediculosis (head lice). Kwell is the number one head lice treatment certified by IMS Health. The said program was insitutionalized by Aspen Philippines as a result of the 2012 DepEd and University of the Philippines (UP) statistics which revealed that pediculosis (head lice) is ranked as the 2nd most common ailment among public school children aged 7-12 years old. Based on DepEd data, almost 9M or 84% of students are afflicted with head lice. Oh my gulay! Nakakatakot! While it seems like a small problem, pediculosis presents a negative impact on children's self-confidence. It is one of the causes of absenteeism, loss of concentration, attentiveness and poor academic performance. That is why it is imperative that we treat them right away and make our kids enjoy school without the worry of lice.

Mayroon na kaming Kwell shampoo for the treatment of head lice and their eggs (kuto at lisa) and prevention for those at risk.

Permethrin (Kwell) is more economical. Use it once to get rid of lice then repeat after 7 days to make sure that no nits have been left and that's it.

Kayo ba? Ingat-ingat.

Have a happy and itchy-free day! 😘

SM Marikina's Summer Mess Fest 2018

When summer kicks in the first thing that comes to every kid's mind is PLAY! They have more time for physical play outside with their friends. And more time for the parents to rest and play with the kids as well. Physical Play has an important role in every child's development.

Physical play includes activities that use body movements to allow children to use their energy, and it gives children the chance to develop gross and fine motor skills, learn new things and socialize. Physical play also benefits a child’s health. It helps a child to develop connections between the nerve cells and the brain. As these connections develop, a child’s fine and gross motor skills, socialization, personal awareness, language, creativity and problem solving are improved.

Last Saturday, I've been luckily invited to join a summer fest for kids and the whole family. I tagged my 2 kids along. It was not an ordinary fest, as attendees will get wet and messy. And for the first time in forever, I get to bring my son with special needs (ASD) in an event where I am invited to. I'm so happy I almost cried. 😭 Can't thank SM Supermalls especially SM City Marikina enough for making it possible and for having a fun summer activity like the #SummerMessFest2018 which is PWD friendly. Kudos! Indeed #SMCares.
The #SummerMessFest was held first at SM Masinag (April 28-29), second leg was in SM Marikina (May 5-6) and the last leg will be at SM San Mateo (May 12).

There are 5 different stations where kids can explore and help with their fine motor skills.

Messy Slide of Fun

Messy Splat of Colors

Messy Sands of Fun

Messy Sweet Land

Messy Colorful Fun Party

SM Summer Mess Fest is not only for kids but for the whole family. Honestly, I also enjoyed the 15-foot messy slide! It was also an instant family bonding for us while my kids and I play, MITD captures every moment of it.

After the event we ate at Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken. It was our first time to dine in there because we were afraid that our picky eaters will not eat, but to my surprise, #PrincessY ate! Personally, it was love at first bite. I like their dipping sauce (sawsawan) Cajun Remoulade (spiced mayonnaise), it complements the tangy and flavorful chicken taste. Little did I know that Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken is also one of the sponsors of the event.

Thank you so much for having us SM Supermalls and SM City Marikina ❤

8 reasons why moms should exercise + Mother's day GIVEAWAY (Curves)

In the Philippines, Mother's day is celebrated every second Sunday of May. For this year it will be on May 13 ❤

Mother's day is a celebration to honor the fabulous women who brought forth God's children into this world,  the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society.

These fab women have a mile-long to-do list, and by default, they often put themselves at the bottom of the list. Sometimes, they don't even make the list at all. Most moms feel this damned-if-I-do, damned-if-I don't pressure relating to their decision to work or stay home, and almost all mothers, regardless of work status, struggle with feelings of guilt when they take time away from their children to practice self-care AKA self- love.

Dear Moms, the moment you become a mother and commit to caring for your child, set an intention for yourself: I will honor and respect myself by regularly taking care of my needs. This will make me happier and better able to care for my family. As moms, we have an enormous opportunity to set a great example for our children on how to be kind to ourselves, and in turn, how to be kind to others. As the saying goes, we can't pour from an empty cup. Easier said than done, right?

But mga nanay (moms), it's time to put self-love on your to-do list! You can't neglect self-care. And finding time to exercise is one of them as it will benefit not only you, but your kids and your family as well.

Here are 8 reasons why you need to make it a priority and fit exercise into your schedule.

Exercise :
✔ will make you feel stronger and more confident

✔ helps you de-stress

✔ will lift your mood and help you combat depression and anxiety

✔ will reshape your body and help your clothes fit better

✔ will give you the energy boosts you need to make it through your busy day

✔ makes you a good example to your kids

✔ allows you to eat more food ðŸ˜

✔ because YOU need to take of YOU (yourself) so that you can take care of those you love

And because I want every mom to be fit, fab, healthy, happy and sane, Curves Magnolia and Made It Through Mum will be throwing a giveaway! This is to show our love and care to mothers who tirelessly love and care for their children/family.
