MarNigo Serenades the Elderly of GGHCC During Vivo’s Charity Event

Singing loveteam Maris Racal and Inigo Pascual, also known as MarNigo, have graced the Christmas charity event of global smartphone brand Vivo at the God’s Grace Home Care Center (GGHCC) in Quezon City.

Aptly named as Vivo Treasured Moments, the event was meant to bring happiness to the elderly living at GGHCC as the smartphone maker’s employees led in donating cash and goods for the benefit of the home care center.

GGHCC is an institution that accept clients who are the elderly, the disabled, and other patients who need palliative care. Owned by Grace Fe T. Capital and Rufino M. Capita, the institution strives to provide the highest quality care for their clients and perform as the substitute of family care.

Aside from helping in distributing gifts, Maris and Inigo also entertained the elderly and performed their hit songs and covers.

Despite his busy schedule, Inigo spent time with the GGHCC elderly and staff.

Inigo performed first and sang his most famous single, “Dahil Sa’yo,” to the enjoyment of the GGHCC residents.

Inigo made sure the elderly had fun during Vivo’s outreach.

Aside from singing, he also played the “Hephep hooray!” game with the elderly, home care center staff, and Vivo employees. Inigo may have lost the game, but he remained energetic throughout the game and encouraged the remaining players.

This lolo almost upstaged Inigo with his singing voice.
For his second performance, he sang “Sana Ngayong Pasko” while interacting with the lolos and the lolas. He even approached some of them and made them sing a few lines.

Maris is a ray of sunshine to the GGHCC elderly.
Maris, meanwhile, rocked the house a bit with her rendition of “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.”

Like any doting apo, Maris assisted the lolas during the game.

She also played “Siomai, Siopao, Suman” game with the elderly. It was a more challenging version of “Hephep hooray!” Maris was a great sport as she eagerly helped the elderly understand the game and interacted with them every chance she had.

Maris made one of the lolos at GGHCC cry as she performed her original song, “Ikaw Lang Sapat Na.”

The young star also shared her original composition, “Ikaw Lang Sapat Na,” with the elderly and reached out to them during her performance.

The visit to GGHCC is Vivo’s fourth outreach program in the Philippines. The smartphone brand previously aided Cottoleng Filipino, Habitat for Humanity, and the AFP Medical Center (V. Luna General Hospital).

Through their presence and talent, MarNigo was able to make an impact in the lives of both GGHCC staff and residents. Like these rising stars, Vivo aims to impart compassion, kindness, and happiness as part of the company’s responsibility to society. Aside from developing high-grade smartphones, Vivo also has a heart for humanity. #

Global smartphone brand Vivo has played Santa ahead of Christmas as it created treasured moments to the elderly at the God’s Grace Home Care Center (GGHCC) in Quezon City on November 24, 2018.

GGHCC serves as a home to the elderly, the disabled, and other patients who need palliative care. With this in mind, Vivo as represented by its 24 employees brought cash donation, brand new wheelchairs, commodes, adult diapers, slippers, pillows, and personal hygiene kits for the GGHCC. At least 40 older adults from the GGHCC participated in Vivo’s visit.

Vivo Philippines HR Director Ms. Nerissa Choy gives her opening remarks at Vivo’s outreach in GGHCC

“We as a brand is known for having high-grade smartphone cameras that understand the value of capturing precious moments in the best ways possible. We wanted to extend this vocation by celebrating Christmas with our elderly at the GGHCC,” Vivo Philippines HR Director Ms. Nerissa Choy said in her opening remarks.

Vivo also invited its young endorsers Inigo Pascual and Maris Racal to the visit. Inigo serenaded the lolas and the lolos with his hit “Dahil Sa’yo” and his rendition of the Christmas classic “Sana Ngayong Pasko.” He also played the Hep Hep Hooray game with the elderly.

Maris, on the other hand, performed her original song “Ikaw Lang Sapat Na” and her cover of “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” during the visit. She also played the Siomai, Siopao, Suman game with the residents of the GGHCC.

Vivo also collated video greetings from its other endorsers Kisses Delavin, Edward Barber, Maymay Entrata, Darren Espanto, Kathryn Bernardo, and Daniel Padilla.

Vivo Philippines HR Director Ms. Neri Choy, hands out its Php20,000 cash donation to the God’s Grace Home Care Center Grace Fe T. Capital and Rufino M. Capital. With them is Vivo endorser Maris Racal.

A Giant Chrismas Tree and the Brightest Stars Illuminate Araneta Center

The Araneta Center shined bright on Friday night, November 16, as it switched the lights on its iconic giant Christmas tree with a constellation of stars descending in the country's premier lifestyle hub.

This tradition, of lighting of the giant Christmas tree started in 1981, has become one of the most anticipated activites in Araneta Center.

Sarah Geronimo and Vice Ganda at
 Araneta Center Tree Lighting

Two of the country's most famous celebrites, the Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo and unkabogable box-office star and fantastica Vice Ganda, joined Araneta Center executives in lighting up the tree at the Times Square Food Park. This was Vice Ganda's 5th straight year of leading the celebration, and Geronimo's 1st.

Just as Araneta Center's celebrations this year are tied to the theme "Christmas is Home", the two superstars' appearance at the tree lighting marks a homecoming of sorts for them, as they have repeatedly celebrated milestones in their careers at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

People (like, thousands of them) gathered to the venue eager to witness the centerpiece of Yuletide decorations come to life and watched their favorite stars perform. Among the guests were Darren Espanto, McCoy de Leon, TNT Boys, Janine Berdin, Vivoree Esclito and CK Kieron, and "The Kids' Choice" jurors Xia Vigor, Chunsa Jung, Onyok Pineda, Carlo Mendoza and Jayden Villegas. OPM band Mojofly rounded up the list of performers.

While waiting for the program to start, MC entertained the crowd

Gretchen Ho and Benj Manalo hosted the program

The Araneta Center also partnered with Parent Advocates for Visually Impaired Children to treat 19 blind kids to a memorable day.

Binibining Pilipinas queens Miss Universe Philippines Catriona Gray, Binibining Pilipinas Supernational Jehza Huelar, Binibining Pilipinas Grand International Eva Patalinjug, Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental Karen Gallman and Miss Globe top 15 finalist Michelle Gumabao, who also graced the tree lighting, led in giving the visually impaired kids white canes and a Christmas gift pack.

Araneta Center's 100 feet Christmas Tree

Araneta Center's giant Christmas tree (100 feet if you are curious) has continuously augumented the Filipinos' anticipation for the Holidays. While it stuns with its more than 3,000 LED light bulbs and an assortment of decors including birdcages with chandeliers, giant balls, giant bells, lighted poinsettias and a seven-foot start topper, the giant Christmas tree also evokes genuine Yuletide cheer for all ages. From Araneta Center's most loyal visitors to the members of the instagram generation, the public cannot help but take snaps with their families and friends with the giant tree serving as the background.

This is the 2nd straight year that Araneta Center's giant Christmas tree is housed at the Times Square Food Park on the corner of Times Square Street and Gen. Roxas Avenue.

Christmas on Display (COD)

The area is also the new home of the well-loved and returning Christmas on Display (COD), which will have its own festive launch on November 23. The food park also features fun rides and a plethora of dining options, which the entire family can enjoy, making it one of the must-visit destinations this Yuletide season in Araneta Center.
