Licealiz together with Mommy Bloggers Philippines continue the battle against Head Lice Infestation in Kilusang Kontra Kuto Year 3

Did you know that according to a study conducted by the Department of Education (DepEd) and the University of the Philippines pediculosis or head lice is considered as the second most common health problem in public schools in the Philippines next to tooth decay?

Head lice or "kuto" infestation is still a widespread condition in the country, but not enough attention goes into preventing and eliminating the persistent ailment. That's why Lamoiyan Corporation's Licealiz Head Lice Treatment Shampoo continues the battle against the public concerns dubbed as Kilusang Kontra Kuto (KKK) Year 3 held at Bagong Silangan Elementary School.

One head louse down! 👍

Lamoiyan Corporation's Licealiz Head Lice Treatment Shampoo commenced in 2016 the KKK or Kilusang Kontra Kuto, a coalition that has been battling head lice infestation nationwide. This year's KKK, Lamoiyan Corporation has partnered once again with the Department of Education, University of the Philippines College of Public Health, Drugstores Association of the Philippines, and Mommy Bloggers Philippines.

What are Head Lice?
- are tiny flat insects about the size of a sesame seed
- live on the human scalp and feed on blood several times a day (several.times.a.day!)
- vary in color but appear darker in the hair
- usually survive for less than 2 days away from the scalp at normal room temperature, ang their eggs cannot hatch at an ambient temperature lower than that near the scalp
- most often found on the warmer areas of the body - sa likod ng tainga, sa likod ng ulo at leeg ( behind the ears and back of head and neck)

SYMPTOMS
- common among kids but anyone can acquire it
- itching common, especially at night
- tickling or feeling of something moving in the hair
- irritability
- some people have NO SYMPTOMS

EFFECTS
- scalp irritation
- bacterial infection
- sleeplessness
- absenteeism (for the kids most especially)
- embarrasment or stigma

TREATMENT ( advised only if lice or live nits are found)
- check all family members
- only family members with live lice or live nits should be treated
- having head lice once DOES NOT protect someone from getting it again

Head lice may be rampant, but it can be treated with the correct information and proper methods like using shampoo specifically for the treatment and prevention of head lice such as Licealiz Head Lice Treatment Shampoo.

#KickstartWithLicealiz Learning Experience Workshop at the Mind Museum

School is in. Parents are again challenged on how to ensure children maintain good hair hygiene despite spending most of their time with classmates and friends.

Did you know that pediculosis or lice infestation is the second cause of absenteeism in public schools in the Philippines? First is tooth decay.

Lice is icky, but it's not dangerous,It's not infectious, they are not a sign of poor hygiene, and it's fairly easy to treat.

Head lice infestation, or pediculosis, occurs through close person-to-person contact with someone who already has the parasitic insect living close to their scalps. Most often they are spread through direct head-to-head contact but infrequently, they may be spread by contact with clothing - including hats and scarves -- or other personal items like combs, brushes, or towels.

Although lice don’t spread disease the way cockroaches and rodents do, these wingless insects do feed on a person’s blood. Having that lice saliva on your scalp and skin causes itchiness that is very irritating throughout the day and keeps you awake at night. Which affect children's  sleeping time that tends to affect their waking hours in the morning and performance in school.

Lamoiyan Corporation's Licealiz recently held #KickstartwithLicealiz Learning Experience workshop at The Mind Museum . Through this learning session, #PrincessY and I together with other mommy bloggers and their daughters were given a fun bonding experience at the same time gave us tips on how to keep those tresses flawless.

@bambikitty (IG) taught us different haistyles for our daughters

Our winning hairstyle 😍

For school girls, fashionable hairstyles are the definite hype which is why there was a hairstyle tutorial that instructed mommies how to style preppy, easy-to-do hairstyles that their kids can pull off at school.

There was also a lecture on basic hair care,  including ways on preventing head lice infestation, to teach us moms on how to prepare well for the school season, especially in ensuring that our child's health remains uncompromised by threats such as pediculosis or kuto.

Aside from the sumptuous food served we were also treated to an educational tour at The Mind Museum to provide our children with the opportunity to satisfy their thirst for learning.
