Do not be afraid, just have faith

Do not be afraid, just have faith. ”

Nakakalimutan ko kasi minsan or baka in denial pa rin ako? Masakit. Malungkot. Kasi bitin ang time ko sa kanila.

"Be sure to spend more time with your parents while you can, because one day when you look up from your busy life, they won't be there anymore "

Love your parents while they are still alive, you will realize after they are gone how much they did and sacrificed for you. Make time for them while you still can.

* 12 AM eme.  Kailangan ko ilabas kasi hindi ako makakatulog kaiiyak, kaya dito lang 'to.  Namiss ko lang ang Mommy at Daddy.

Love your parents!  Hug them palagi.  Tell them how much you love them.  Para sa inyo rin yan,  believe me.

Gospel :  Mark 5: 21-43 (walang kinalaman sa kwento ko pero sa palaging sinasabi ni Father na do not be afraid,  just have faith) 🙏 Magtiwala lang.  Kapit pa 🙏

Converge CEO: Leveraging Korea’s Digital Transformation for PH Public Service, Main Priority as PBBM’s Special Envoy

(from left) Korean Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines President Mr. Hyunchong Joseph Um, Converge CEO and Co-Founder, Special Envoy for Digital Transformation Dennis Anthony Uy, SGV Vice Chair and Deputy Managing Partner Vivian Ruiz, Former Secretary of Foreign Affairs Delia Domingo-Albert, Philippine Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Ma. Theresa Dizon-De Vega, and SGV Chairman and Managing Partner Wilson Tan.

Digital transformation is a major thread in the ties that bind the Philippines and Korea together, and the Special Envoy to the Republic of Korea (ROK) for Digital Transformation - Converge CEO Dennis Anthony Uy - intends to strengthen that thread by modeling the Philippines’ e-governance system to that of the ROK.

At the launch of the Korean translation of the professional services firm SGV & Co.’s ‘Doing Business in the Philippines’ publication held this January, Uy hailed the advancement of ROK’s digital systems especially those for public service.

“The United Nations itself has ranked South Korea consistently among its top economies that effectively pursue digital government strategies. That’s why, for my part, I’d like us to benchmark that country’s e-court system which has vastly improved their efficiency in the processing and disposal of cases,” said Uy, citing one example.

Last November, Uy and his party traveled to Seoul to meet with South Korea’s Supreme Court and Presidential Adviser on Judicial Affairs and other related government agencies to get their support in the modernization program of the Philippine Supreme Court. Uy then submitted a slew of recommendations to Malacañang to jumpstart digital projects between the two governments.

Uy also mentioned the infusion of more advanced technologies when it comes to the National ID system and cybersecurity.

Dennis Anthony Uy aims to elevate the level of e-governance in the Philippines to that of South Korea, which is recognized globally as a pioneer in the use of digitization to transform civil and public service.

The launch saw the coming together of key stakeholders and personalities tasked with the duty to empower Philippine-Korea relations on all fronts, may they be diplomatic or economic. Uy was joined by the likes of Ambassador of the Philippines to the Republic of Korea. H.E. Maria Theresa B. Dizon-De Vega who championed the signing (and eventual enforcement) of the Philippines-Korea Free Trade Agreement, and Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry Philippines President Joseph Um who welcomed the Philippine government’s openness in inviting more foreign direct investments from the ROK.

“While our 75 years of diplomatic relations are anchored to our shared history and shared sacrifices, our relations are forward or future-looking. The recently signed PH-Korea Free Trade Agreement is one very important milestone because it encompasses new emerging areas of economic cooperation and engagement which make full use and optimizes the strengths of both our countries,” shared Ambassador De Vega.

SGV Chairman and Managing Partner Wilson Tan explained the relevance of the latest publication and its anticipated impact on the country’s growth.

“SGV has been publishing Doing Business in the Philippines since 1968. For almost 56 years, the brochure has provided prospective investors with information such as current economic data, growth areas, tax laws, and government priority plans. It aims to provide a comprehensive investment guide and encourage foreign stakeholders to explore business opportunities in the Philippines.

We have distributed this publication to investors, trade offices, business organizations, national embassies, and during official state visits of the Philippine President. We have also translated the brochure into various languages, including Korean, Chinese, German, and Japanese, aiming to make it easier and more comfortable for our potential international investors to navigate the business landscape in the Philippines while also fostering an inclusive business climate. Through the Doing Business in the Philippines publication, SGV hopes to do its part in promoting our country’s national development and economic growth.”

The CEO and Co-Founder of leading Philippine fiber broadband company Converge ICT Solutions Inc. has been elected to the Board of Directors of the country’s largest business organization, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI).

Dennis Anthony H. Uy joins 19 other distinguished luminaries of the business sector as directors of the PCCI. He will serve as the director of PCCI’s ICT Committee.

“It’s my privilege to serve the country’s most influential business group. The voice of the private sector is never as important as it is today, and I am grateful for the opportunity to lend mine in the service of nation-building. I hope to bring my expertise in technology and digitalization to the table and steer crucial discussions shaping the future of innovation in the Philippines,” said Dennis Anthony Uy.

“The PCCI has long treasured the valuable membership of Dennis. We’re thrilled to have him join us in the Board as he elevates his standing in the ICT and technology industries. It comes as no surprise to us that he has become such a powerful voice in these fields, given his deep knowledge of the Philippine technology landscape and years of experience in ICT,” noted Enunina “Nina” Mangio, the 2024 President of PCCI.

Converge CEO and Co-Founder Dennis Anthony H. Uy joins 19 other distinguished luminaries of the business sector as directors of the PCCI. He will serve as the director of PCCI’s ICT Committee.

“Dennis’ inclusion in our Board brings a technology-centric perspective into our discussions of topics of national interest. This is vital to us as PCCI prides itself in being a forward-looking organization that is in step with the times,” said PCCI Chairman of the Board George T. Barcelon.

Uy is the co-Founder of Converge ICT Solutions Inc., the fastest growing broadband operator in the Philippines and considered a maverick in the telecommunications and ICT space. He, together with his wife, Maria Grace Y. Uy catapulted Converge from a Pampanga-based technology provider to a fiber broadband powerhouse with a nationwide footprint. Today, the company’s fiber assets span more than 680,000 kilometers.

In recognition of his gravitas in the ICT industry, President Ferdinand “Bong Bong” Marcos Jr. appointed Uy as Special Envoy to the Republic of Korea for Digital Transformation. Special envoys are agents appointed as a representative of a state leader on the basis of his expertise or specialty in a specific issue area. Given the global reputation of ROK as a technology leader, Uy serves as a crucial linchpin for the Philippine government’s digital transformation.

Uy recently joined the PCCI Executive Committee in a courtesy call with President of the Republic of Indonesia, His Excellency Joko Widodo, during his state visit to the Philippines. This was followed by a roundtable discussion with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN). Among the common areas of interest identified during the discussions were mining, transportation, information and communications technology (ICT) and the digital economy. The meeting was also attended by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary, Hon. Alfredo E. Pascual; the Minister for State-Owned Enterprise of Indonesia, Hon. Erick Thohir; and Philippine and Indonesian business representatives.

The PCCI awarded Dennis Anthony Uy with the Nation-Builders’ Award last December for his enduring contributions to advancing technology and innovation in the country.

GrabCar Launches in CDO Strengthens the City's Commitment to Economic Empowerment

Grab officially launched GrabCar in Cagayan De Oro City as part of its commitment to economic empowerment in the region. The photo above shows Grab Philippines Head of Mobility EJ Dela Vega [Center-Left] with CDO Councilors George Goking, Romeo Calizo, and Malvern Esparcia; and officials from LTFRB Region 10

The leading superapp officially launches its flagship mobility service in Cagayan De Oro, expanding its portfolio of services in the city which is currently composed of GrabFood and GrabTaxi

Grab Philippines, a dedicated partner in the nation-building efforts of the government, is strengthening its commitment to economic empowerment in Cagayan De Oro. With the official launch of its flagship mobility service GrabCar, Grab is not only providing Kagay-anons with a viable transportation option but is also creating a new avenue for generating livelihoods and stimulating economic activity in the City of Golden Friendship.

GrabCar is a beloved and trusted mobility service for Filipino commuters. Built on a foundation of safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness, GrabCar stands as an effective mobility alternative for the Filipino commuting public. GrabCar currently services the area from Laguindingan Airport up to the end of Lapasan and Upper Balulang.

Cagayan De Oro is the second city in Mindanao to welcome the GrabCar service,  furthering the leading superapp’s mission to create sustainable opportunities and foster economic growth across the region.

Grab Philippines Head of Mobility Marketplace EJ Dela Vega shares, “Our superapp model allows us to know and deeply understand Kagay-anons best - from the way they commute through GrabTaxi, to the way they enjoy their everyday meals through GrabFood. Grab continues to be attentive to the needs of the market and we believe that now is the right time to offer Kagay-anons a mobility solution that not only meets their everyday needs but also positively contributes to the long-term success of CDO.”

Cagayan De Oro Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy also underscored the strong partnership of the city with the leading superapp. “Cagayan De Oro actively forges partnerships with industry leaders like Grab as we make strides toward our vision of solid economic performance and a thriving citizenry. The launch of Grab in our city has given Kagay-anon entrepreneurs, drivers and riders access to a robust marketplace that fosters high-success potential – something only a superapp ecosystem can offer. We are glad to welcome GrabCar and are excited to see the new opportunities it is bringing for our kabayayans,” Mayor Uy shares.

The Grab Superapp Journey in CDO: A Long-Standing Commitment to Economic Empowerment

To digitalize the taxi ecosystem in Cagayan De Oro, Grab launched GrabTaxi in 2015. Since then, Grab has been forging close partnerships with key taxi operators in the city. This collaboration has resulted in the onboarding of hundreds of GrabTaxi driver-partners, enabling them to substantially boost their earnings potential through increased bookings facilitated on the platform.

As Southeast Asia’s leading superapp, Grab has also expanded its presence in CDO outside of mobility with the launch of GrabFood in May 2020. This addition has proven to be instrumental in fostering a thriving ecosystem for local entrepreneurial ventures, regardless of their size. By democratizing access to user-friendly growth tools, cutting-edge technology, and capacity-building programs, Grab has empowered MSMEs to achieve sustainable growth on the platform. One outstanding example of a homegrown CDO merchant-partner that has experienced equitable success on Grab is Frkn Burger. Since its launch on Grab, Frkn Burger has achieved a remarkable ten-fold increase in its average weekly delivery orders and has also opened its second branch. This earned them a well-deserved spot among the prestigious Golden Grab Awardees for 2023.

An Expansive Horizon of Partnership

As a devoted partner for the economic empowerment of the Cagayan De Oro local government, Grab Philippines will continue to leverage its technology, extensive network of highly engaged users, and community-focused approach to unlock new possibilities for growth and prosperity. Dela Vega notes, “The horizon of collaboration between Grab and the local government of Cagayan De Oro continues to be expansive. Together, we're orchestrating a future of sustainable opportunities that create pathways for local everyday entrepreneurs to realize their aspirations. This is a testament to the transformative power of partnership, innovative technology, and the boundless potential of the Filipino spirit.”

Leading fiber broadband provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc. is expanding its distribution network by tapping mobile phone and gadget retailer TL Sales and Management Services Inc. (TLSMS) which operates over 200 stores nationwide, including those located in the country’s biggest malls.

TLSMS has an expansive footprint in malls nationwide under the brand names Cellboy, Gaming Grounds, Cell Time, Games & Gadgets, Gadget Plus, BOMA Tech, and Cyber Center. These gadget stores are widely available in malls such as SM (in SM Cyberzones) and Ayala Malls.

Converge COO Jesus C. Romero sees a synergy in this one-year partnership given TLSMS’ footprint in major malls nationwide

“We are working hard to expand our channels at the moment. We’ve been looking at partners with a wide reach, to get as many customers as we can and we think we’ve found the right partner in TLSMS. Through their vast network of stores under their seven brands, which, by the way, are present in the country’s biggest malls,  we will be able to bring our world-class fiber broadband connection even closer to customers,” said Jesus C. “At the core of our partnership with Converge is a shared vision to empower Filipinos through technology. As a retailer, we offer more than just a mobile device; we offer a solution to enhance and simplify their digital lives. The collaboration will bring Converge fiber products closer to mall-going Filipinos, and will form part of the emerging sales channels of Converge.

TLSMS-owned stores started offering Converge broadband products on October 1, 2023, such as its flagship FiberX plans which start at P1,500 a month for 200 Mbps unlimited internet, low-cost BIDA Fiber internet at P888 a month for 35 Mbps speed and up to six devices connected, and the prepaid Surf2Sawa product that allows as low as P50 load for unlimited data for one day at 25 Mbps speed for up to six devices.

Aside from its business centers, Converge is being carried by the following retail partners: USSC (Western Union), Microgold Pawnshop (Tambunting Pawnshops), and Sta. Monica Pawnshop, and ACM International (VIP Payment Center). The Kislap Multipurpose Cooperative and the Carmona Multipurpose Cooperative likewise receive subscription applications for Converge.

With the partnership, the mobile gadget retailers of Teng’s TLSMS may now sell Converge products and receive broadband applications.
