423 HIRED ON-THE-SPOT IN SM’S LABOR DAY JOB FAIRS IN GRAND CENTRAL, VALENZUELA

At concurrent Labor Day job fairs held at SM City Grand Central and SM City Valenzuela, 423 people were able to obtain on-the-spot career possibilities.

This joint effort by SM Supermalls, the Department of Labor and Employment, the Local Government Units, and the Public Employment Service Offices (PESO) in Caloocan and Valenzuela City, in conjunction with the Jobs Committee of the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC), a number of industry associations, and SM Retail, demonstrated each mall's dedication to expediting the job search and promoting economic growth.

At SM City Grand Central, 166 job seekers were hired-on-the-spot, while 257 individuals secured employment on the spot at SM City Valenzuela. The event at SM City Grand Central featured 55 companies from key sectors such as retail, food and beverage, information technology (IT), and business process outsourcing (BPO), offering a total of 5,501 job openings. Similarly, the job fair at SM City Valenzuela had 30 participating companies, providing 2,555 job listings.

In addition to the employment prospects provided by participating companies and organizations, job seekers had access to comprehensive one-stop-shop services. These services encompass a range of government services, including NBI clearance, SSS membership, community tax certificates, police clearances, and PhilHealth memberships, all geared to fast-track jobseekers’ possible employment.

SM Supermalls remains steadfast in its mission to bolster job creation and empower the Filipino workforce. These Labor Day Job Fairs mark the second installment of mall-based job fair events this year, following the successful job fair held at SM City Grand Central last February 16, 2024, where 119 applicants were hired on the spot. SM City Valenzuela's recent overseas job fair last March 5, 2024, likewise showcased over 3,000 global opportunities in sought-after destinations such as Australia, Canada, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, Singapore, China, and other Asian countries.
