Sunrise Trail Hike at Masungi Georeserve: An Empowering and Meaningful Birthday Celebration
This new multi‑stakeholder advocacy combines product innovation, practical nutrition education, and collective action to make better food more accessible for Filipino families.
Improving nutrition goes beyond encouraging healthier choices. It means making those choices simpler, more affordable, and easier to find for every Filipino household. Addressing the country’s ongoing nutrition challenges requires removing common barriers: limited nutrition knowledge, tight budgets, and limited access to nourishing options.
Turning Dialogue into Collective Action
Recognizing that stronger food systems demand more than just product innovation, Monde Nissin gathered leaders in nutrition, community development, and industry for The Better Food Conversation: Nourishment on Every Filipino Plate. The expert panel featured Dr. Clarissa Juanico, President of the Philippine Stakeholders for Nutrition and Dietetics; Mr. Cloyd Masaudling, Executive Director of the Aguhon Movement for Governance; Jo Sebastian, registered nutritionist‑dietitian and content creator; and Atty. Olive Misa, Head of Corporate and Government Affairs at Monde Nissin Corporation.
Attendees represented key institutions across the food and nutrition landscape, including the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Agriculture (DA), DOST‑Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST‑FNRI), Philippine Association of Nutrition, Philippine Stakeholders for Nutrition and Dietetics, Nutritionist Dietitians’ Association of the Philippines Foundation, Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Business Network, and the University of the Philippines Los BaƱos, among others.
The discussion explored the realities that shape how Filipino families choose what to eat, and affirmed the value of evidence‑based nutrition guidance. Panelists agreed that building healthier food environments requires sustained collaboration across government, experts, communities, academe, and the private sector. The initiative serves as an open platform to foster dialogue, strengthen partnerships, and develop practical solutions together.
“Better nutrition is not only about knowing what to eat. It also depends on whether families can afford it, find it where they already shop, and see how it fits into their daily meals,” said Kevin Carpio, Nutrition Advocacy Manager at Monde Nissin.
“When all sectors work as one, we can build environments where healthier choices are not only available but truly within reach for everyone,” added Dr. Clarissa Juanico.
Registered nutritionist‑dietitian Jo Sebastian highlighted the importance of empowering rather than restricting people: “We should focus on what we can add, not just what to take away. Small steps such as adding cabbage or an egg to instant noodles can boost nutrition significantly, without making healthy eating feel overwhelming.”
A Sustained Commitment to Better Nutrition
At the event, Monde Nissin formally introduced Better Food Forward (BFF), its long‑term advocacy to bring better food within reach of Filipino families by integrating science‑led innovation, nutrition education, and cross‑sector partnerships. The initiative rests on three pillars: Products, Programs, and Partnerships, guiding Monde Nissin to raise the nutritional quality of its offerings, equip consumers with practical knowledge, and support systems that make healthy options easier to access.
Carpio emphasized that BFF reflects Monde Nissin’s enduring dedication to measurable progress, acknowledging that no single group can solve the nation’s nutrition challenges alone.
The company shared significant milestones from its portfolio: today, 73% of its revenue comes from fortified products, 32% carry reduced sodium, and 100% are free from trans fats. In 2025 alone, Monde Nissin products delivered 2 billion servings of Vitamin A, 3 billion servings of iron, and 542 million servings of Vitamin C to Filipino consumers.
Monde Nissin also unveiled its Nutrition Criteria, a science‑driven framework to guide product development and renovation, supporting its goal to expand its range of healthier offerings by 2030. Current efforts include targeted sodium reduction, proprietary air‑fried noodle technology that cuts fat and calories, and continued fortification to fill key nutrient gaps in Filipino diets.
Better Food Forward is designed to evolve alongside new research, innovation, and stakeholder input — it is not a one‑time campaign, but an ongoing journey.
“Today’s launch is not the finish line. It is an invitation to keep listening, identify where our strengths meet, and co‑create solutions that truly work,” said Rico Gonzales, Chief Business Officer at Monde Nissin. “We hold one simple belief: better food should be within reach, not just for some, but for every Filipino family.”
As Better Food Forward moves forward, Monde Nissin looks to deepen collaboration across sectors so that nourishing choices become easier, more familiar, and accessible to all.
