Converge FiberX Boost Mode: Gigabit Internet, Lowest Prices in the Philippines

On the heels of the recently announced collaboration between Converge ICT Solutions Inc. and Netflix, Converge continues to build on its culture of service by making Boost Mode a permanent offering now accessible to all.

Boost Mode was initially launched to celebrate our back-to-back Ookla® Speedtest Awards for 2023 Q3-Q4 and 2024 Q1-Q2. This limited-time offer provided a free automatic speed boost of an additional 100 Mbps for all FiberX plans. Boost Mode permanency introduces Wi-Fi 6 capabilities to FiberX plans starting from P1,699 and is the latest of Converge’s efforts to provide a better and more reliable internet experience.

The Gigabit Life

Gigabit life has never been this accessible, starting with FiberX Plan 3500, the first accessible gigabit fixed broadband plan in the Philippines. New subscribers can enjoy speeds up to 1 Gbps powered by the fastest, most reliable internet and XCLSV (VIP) benefits for only P3,500/month, down by more than half from P7,499.

For a more value option, Time of Day 3000 Plan offers high speeds during key hours for gaming, streaming, and working, while still providing solid performance during off-peak times. As it stands, it is one of the most unique and flexible fiber internet plans with the top-end feature (P3,000/month) providing users with up to 700 Mbps that spikes up to 1 Gbps during your chosen peak hours, whether at night or during the day.

Deploying gigabit plans accessible to the greater public is the culmination of Converge’s vision of a connected future. Giving precedence to network scalability and sustainability from day one has helped Converge establish technical superiority. This has allowed Converge to provide tailor-fit offerings particularly recognizing gamers as an essential part of a rapidly evolving market and a driving force in shaping the future of the “digital life”.

For these passionate gamers, gaming transcends mere leisure; it embodies a lifestyle. Gamers are both explorers and creators of new worlds, a sentiment highly valued within the organization.

Shown in Converge’s partnership with top-level Esports teams like two-time world champions Falcons AP. Bren and MPL PH Season 14 Champions Fnatic Onic, the end-goal is to not only enhance the experience but also provide the means to dominate the competition. This goal extends to providing these same elite resources to Converge subscribers through The Game Changer Elite Bootcamp Plan. It is Converge’s answer to every gamer’s plight: low-ping, low-jitter and starting at only P5,000, this is the only internet plan specifically catering to competitive Esports teams. Whether it’s intense firefights or strategic plays, the squad gets unmatched connectivity and network prioritization for gaming apps, ensuring games stay responsive when the pressure’s on. With Up to 1 Gbps speeds backed by the ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX 6000 gaming router, the whole team stays in the zone, fully connected, and ready to dominate—even with heavy traffic across multiple devices.

Culture of Service

Orange Ramirez, VP & Head of Marketing states, “Through Boost Mode, we at Converge reaffirm our commitment to serving the unserved and underserved. Beyond the clear benefits regarding value and performance, subscribers can expect to join an unrelenting effort to cultivate a culture of service, as demonstrated by our track record of delivering accessible, reliable, and tailor-fit connectivity to all Filipinos.”

“At Converge, our vision has always centered on giving amazing digital experiences.” Converge EVP & Chief Commercial Officer Benjamin B. Azada adds, “We want to not only continue providing customers with substantial speed increases but also reiterate our commitment to championing sustainability. By equipping subscribers with network devices that feature intelligent hibernation mechanisms, we can help save up to 41% in power consumption. Boost Mode is only the most recent step in Converge's vision of bridging the gap with the best in the world.”

Converge ICT Solutions Inc. is once again elevating connectivity in the country with the launch of Boost Mode permanency. By extending this gift—initially only available to existing subscribers—to everyone, the company aims to demonstrate that connectivity is not a luxury, it is a basic need that should be accessible to all, empowering every home’s digital life.

Converge mobilizes relief efforts for areas affected by severe tropical storm Kristine

Converge business centers across the country have opened their doors to communities impacted by severe tropical storm Kristine (international name: Trami), as flooding and power outages continued to affect towns and municipalities in Luzon.

“Where we can, we’ve deployed resources to those affected by severe tropical storm Kristine. We’ve made it a practice to stop business center operations so that these can serve as temporary shelters for those in need. As we speak, we are earmarking funds for distribution of relief packs in some of these affected areas,” said Converge CEO and Co-Founder Dennis Anthony Uy.

Bicolanos crowded a Converge business center, seeking refuge from the severe tropical storm and bringing their devices to make use of the center’s charging station.

Business centers in hard hit areas such as Naga, Legazpi, Bayombong, Gapan, Candon, Vigan, and Laoag served as temporary shelters, provided charging stations, and offered free Wi-Fi to stranded residents. Particularly in Naga, in partnership with Ravenous Communications, Converge distributed sustenance to those affected.

A Converge lineman braves flooded roadways en route to the restoration of affected network elements.

Converge also assures subscribers that it has deployed repair teams since the brunt of the typhoon hit yesterday and assessment of some areas’ power requirements are ongoing. In areas with massive power outages, Converge deployed generator sets to temporarily power up its network until commercial power becomes available.

As of Friday afternoon, Converge has restored over 70% of its network facilities affected by the typhoon. Most of its business centers have also returned to normal operations.

Converge employees and partners pitched in to distribute simple meals to affected residents.

Converge is also taking stock of the needs of its more than 2,000-strong workforce and aiding the most vulnerable and those mostly affected by the typhoon.

"We Find Ways": BDO Iriga City Branch Provides Essential Services During Typhoon Kristine

The only one. BDO branch in Iriga City was the only bank in the whole Rinconada District in Camarines Sur to remain online during Tropical Storm Kristine’s surge.

IN the face of great damage brought by Tropical Storm Kristine to the Bicol Region, BDO Unibank remained online within the Rinconada District to serve the community’s cash requirements at a dire time when people needed access to their funds.

The Rinconada District encompasses the municipalities of Baao, Balatan, Bato, Buhi, Bula, Nabua, and Iriga City.

According to Romeo R. De Vera III, Senior Assistant Vice President and Area Head of Region 6-Southern Luzon, the BDO branch in Iriga City remained open to clients in need of cash on October 24, when the rest were not available.

De Vera explained that to ensure uninterrupted service to their clients even during calamities, they strategically deployed personnel and resources where they were needed the most, as some branches had to close due to floods and other challenges. He also stressed that BDO prioritized the welfare of its personnel, especially during these challenging situations. "That's always been our practice during calamities—after securing our respective homes and families, our personnel then headed to the branches to help get these up and running, ready to serve our clients.”

All in a day's work

For De Vera, it's business as usual even in the face of typhoons.

"For us, as long as the roads are passable, we went and help out where we were needed. But we only asked employees who were able to report for work and not adversely affected by the flood,” he pointed out.

He also proudly shared that resilience is one of the many positive traits of Bicolanos like him.

"When it comes to calamities, Bicolanos are resilient. It's just a typhoon. But this (Tropical Storm Kristine) was the strongest we've had in 30 years. We were surprised by the magnitude of the ensuing floods," he admitted. "But here in BDO, it's nothing new. Like we always say here, ‘we find ways.’ That's why our clients are so happy with us, as even clients from other banks were able to withdraw using our ATMs."

He also noted the bank’s “We find ways” philosophy extend not only to the level of service they provide to their clients, but also to the support they offer to fellow employees especially amid trying times.

This, De Vera explained, came to fore when personnel from other branches were unable to go home because of the floods.

"A branch manager opened her home to one of the staff who got stranded and was unable to go home because of the flood. The same was true for personnel in our Camarines Sur-Nabua Branch, who were stranded there. We also would like to thank our Security Division for facilitating the delivery of relief goods," he said.

The company has diligently expanded its sales networks nationwide, reaching 75 out of 81 provinces to make its solutions accessible to those who need them the most.

A celebration of milestones and trust

As HCPH welcomed its 11th year of service, the company commemorated the occasion with an event highlighting its users’ tiwala for the brand. The affair showcased and thanked its customers who have trusted HCPH throughout the years and honored those who have remained loyal since the company was launched in 2013.

Eleven of the company’s loyal customers were recognized during a program held at Trinoma’s Activity Center on Oct 25. These patrons have availed of 11 or more products from HCPH. As a token of appreciation, they were each given a P20,000 cheque, had the opportunity to bond with HCPH’s brand ambassador Marian Rivera, and were serenaded by guest band Nobita.

“At Home Credit, we believe in building lasting partnerships with our customers. Our loyal customers are the heart of our brand, and their continued support has paved the way for our continued success in the past ten years. As we now welcome a new year of service, their trust serves as our fuel to grow and their support propels us to continue innovating our financial solutions,” Sheila Paul, HCPH Chief Marketing Officer, remarked.

A partnership built on trust

One of HCPH’s guests during its anniversary event was the Kapuso Primetime Queen herself, Marian Rivera, who, apart from bonding with the crowd and HCPH’s 11 loyal customers, was there to announce her partnership renewal with the company.

A brand ambassador for more than a year now, Marian agreed to continue her reign as the face of the country’s leading consumer finance company for two more years. Her return isn’t just a routine endorsement—it’s a bold statement about trust and her unwavering commitment to a brand that empowers Filipinos.

“A trusted brand ambassador is more than just a face—they are a reflection of the values and integrity that drive one’s brand’s growth. When a respected individual endorses our company, it sends a powerful message to our customers that their trust is valued, and their well-being is a priority.

This renewal of the partnership with Marian, who is known for her credibility and longevity in the entertainment industry aligns with Home Credit’s drive for trust and our commitment to being the Filipinos’ financial ally,” Paul added.

A financial ally in times of need

As the Filipinos’ trusted financial ally, and as part of its commitment to empowering them at every stage of their life, HCPH also recognizes its role in standing by its customers and communities in times of need.

As part of its immediate response to the recent typhoon that has impacted many lives across the country, HCPH also announced during the event that it will be making a financial contribution to a trusted charity close to Marian’s heart, the GMA Kapuso Foundation, to support relief efforts for those who were affected.

Century Tuna's "Saving Our Seas" Embraces the Plastic Circular Economy: A Sustainable Approach to Ocean Health

Representatives and volunteers from Century Pacific Food Inc. (CPFI), Century Tuna Superbods 2024 finalists, HOPE, and the Local Government of Mabini, Batangas, gathered for the “Saving Our Seas” International Coastal Cleanup Day activity on the coast of Anilao in Batangas.

After its successful run in 2023, Century Tuna, the country’s no.1 tuna brand, continues to lead the charge in marine conservation in the Philippines, further solidifying its commitment to fighting plastic pollution with the 2nd year of its “Saving Our Seas” campaign.

This 2024, Century Tuna expanded its efforts by leading education drives on the Plastic Circular Economy and responsible plastic waste management, spearheaded initiatives to restore and protect vital coastal areas, and actively engaging with local communities across the country.

Mr. Carlo Endaya, Vice President and General Manager of the Branded Tuna Division, Century Pacific Food Inc., talked about the second year of the “Saving Our Seas” Initiative

“With the second year of the ‘Saving Our Seas’ campaign, Century Tuna is reiterating its commitment to taking proactive steps in protecting our marine environments,” said Mr. Carlo Endaya, Vice President and General Manager of Branded Tuna Division, Century Pacific Food Inc. (CPFI). “That’s why we’re doing this—aside from cleaning the ocean, we want to continue spreading the word and fostering the mindset that we must always work to prevent plastic pollution.”

Ms. Bea Ballesca-Martinez, Century Tuna Marketing Manager, helmed the Coastal Clean-up leg of Century Tuna “Saving Our Seas” in Mabini, Batangas.

In celebration of International Coastal Cleanup Day, Century Tuna initiated a school-based plastic recycling drive in several elementary schools in Mabini, Batangas. In partnership with HOPE’s Aling Tindera Waste-to-Cash program, elementary students were encouraged to collect plastic waste, exchange it for cash, and learn more about the Plastic Circular Economy - where all plastics collected and recycled are diverted away from nature to ensure that it won’t leak back into the open environment.

Ms. Ilusion Farias, HOPE Managing Director shared the importance of teaching students about the Plastic Circular Economy at the Century Tuna “Saving Our Seas” School Plastic Drive

“The idea is to help everyone realize that by picking up that piece of plastic, you can not only earn a little extra money for your family but also contribute to solving this global problem and help clean up the Philippines and the world,” said Ms. Ilusion Farias, HOPE Managing Director.

Century Tuna Superbods 2024 finalists led by Century Tuna Superbods 2024 Runner-up Patrick Patawaran, participated in the Century Tuna 'Saving Our Seas' International Coastal Cleanup Day in Mabini, Batangas.

Following the initiative and coinciding with the International Coastal Cleanup Day, representatives from Century Tuna, together with finalists from Century Tuna Superbods 2024 led by Runner-up Patrick Patawaran, CPFI employees, and volunteer divers participated in a coastal and reef cleanup activity in Mabini, Batangas. They were able to collect a total of 357 kilograms of plastic waste from both the shoreline and underwater.

Volunteer divers participated in the Century Tuna ‘Saving Our Seas’ reef cleanup activity in Mabini, Batangas.

The award-winning Century Tuna’s “Saving Our Seas” campaign is a continuation of its bigger mission to aid in marine conservation. Last year, the campaign was able to surpass its initial target of collecting 10 metric tons of plastic waste and avoiding it getting leaked into our seas.

CPFI employees and the Local Government of San Juan, La Union collaborated for the Century Tuna “Saving Our Seas” Earth Day Palit-Plastic Project in San Juan, La Union.

Early this year, “Saving Our Seas” made notable progress with key events such as the Earth Day Palit Plastic Project in La Union and the Superbods Cleanup Drive in Subic Bay, Zambales. These efforts highlight Century Tuna’s dedication to the bigger cause of fighting plastic pollution and educate people on the idea of a Plastic Circular Economy.

iPhones are for everyone: Apple’s premium device remains Home Credit’s top mobile in 2024

Country’s leading consumer finance company sees steady growth, 66% increase from last year’s PHP6B worth of sales

Home Credit Philippines (HCPH), the country’s leading consumer finance company, anticipates a steady increase in its iPhone sales, projecting a total of PHP10B worth of sales by the end of the year, a 66% increase from its 2023 sales of PHP6B. This makes the iPhone the top mobile sold by the company for two years in a row.

The forecasted surge is based on Home Credit’s strong sales from the previous year and the excitement surrounding Apple’s latest iPhone model releases. According to the company’s recent sales report, the steady growth represents an average of 250% year-on-year sales increase since Home Credit started financing iPhones in 2013.

Among the factors that drive sales is the growing popularity of iPhones among Filipinos, whether for personal or professional use. Known for its cutting-edge technology and premium quality that solidifies its standing as one of the best smartphones on the market, the demand for iPhones, according to Home Credit’s sales data, has surged since 2021, with sales increasing more than sevenfold, from over 21,000 units amounting to PHP861M sold in 2021 to nearly 150,000 units amounting to PHP6B in 2023. On average, over 400 iPhones were sold daily last year via Home Credit financing.

Currently, Home Credit’s total number of iPhone units financed stands at 445,000 units, amounting to PHP17B worth of sales, with the iPhone 11 as the best-selling model, accounting for 186,000 units sold and PHP5.8B worth of sales.

“Filipinos are always searching for high-quality, durable smartphones that can meet their everyday needs, from managing daily tasks to providing entertainment after a long day. Apple has consistently delivered on this through its ever-evolving iPhone models, making it a trusted choice for Filipino consumers.

“Our sales figures reflect the strong demand for iPhones in the Philippines, and the progression of the mass segment’s aspirations. Those who were previously content with mid-tier phones are now earnest in purchasing an iPhone because of flexible plans that allow them to get them for just P50-P60 per day,” Puneet Suneja, Chief Sales Officer of HCPH said.

As the Filipino’s financial ally, HCPH has made it easier for all Filipinos to own their dream iPhones by offering 0% interest deals and a variety of flexible installment plans from six to 24 months.
